Confused...I have both wired and wireless options in my JL for my iphone, and within the realm of wired I can plug in my phone or use a MagSafe charger: which involves a wire but not one plugged into the phone. I'm not sure we have to commit to one or the other approach here.....

For short trips I keep the phone on my person and this way don't forget it when I leave my vehicle. It's the most convenient option but comes at the expense of phone battery usage, of course having the smallest "hit" to phone power on such short journeys.

For longer trips I can use the Magsafe charger, which is less efficient at charging than plugging the phone in, but leaves my phone more charged, or no less charged at trip's completion than when I started, or for faster charging, plug the phone in--a hard wired connection to the phone taking precedence over any Magsafe charger in proximity.

I used the AA Wireless adapter for a few months. I really liked having my phone auto-connect to my Jeep from in my pocket. I also liked being able to change the DPI in settings and getting a better layout for Android Auto.

I eventually stopped using it as my phone would constantly notify me that it was connecting or connected to Android Auto while I was at home with my Jeep parked in the garage. I played with some settings to minimize this annoyance, but in the end I decided I could live without it.

The AAWireless brand dongle has a companion app that stops that "constantly notify me that it was connecting or connected to Android Auto while I was at home with my Jeep parked in the garage." thing that seems to have soured you in regard to Wireless Android Auto.

For anyone with a 2018-2023 JL/JT that is considering the use of wireless Android Auto do go with the AAWireless dongle with it's companion app. For reasons why, read through this thread..

I started this poll today, in hopes that it would get the word out and encourage forum talk about Wireless in regard to both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

It's surprising that so many guy's/gals with 2018-2023 JL's/JT's are not aware that wireless is a possibility.....

Anyway, the Technology is there... has come along way Tech wise, in a short period of time... and if you do your homework, you can truly enjoy wireless... This 75yo sure does!

I know my set-up is pure pleasure. Very stable. As for smartphone battery charging.... well, that is no reason to avoid wireless. Reality is, you can plug in that smartphone when/if you need to charge..

I know I do many a 1200 mi., 24 hr. +-nnon-stop bonsai run, in the course of the year. I go wireless during most of the time, each trip.

Sure, I may hook up a cable and charge for an hour or so on a lengthy trip... but for the other hours driving / stopping a gas stations, fast food places and such, I enjoy having an un-tethered smartphone.

Hm, not sure. I pair my phone to the Jeep with Bluetooth, but I guess that's not CarPlay. I do have CarPlay in my Mini, and I'd say it's marginally nicer than what I have in the Jeep. But I only do two things with my phone while in the car: Listen to something or pull up a map.

Wired car play from the begining. I have a 10" Stinger head unit with GPS but running google maps on car play is a superior GPS.

My 2022 JLURD didn't come with Wireless Android Auto
I added Wireless Android Auto via the Motorola MA1 Wireless adapter
Using a Samsung S22 Ultra in conjunction
Works flawlessly. Love it

I rarely use my phone, use it for emergency calls if needed and of course to order the occasional pizza.

I don't know the Android world but with my "iphone I energized a cable plugged into my phone from the 12V cigarette plug in the dash via a 12V to USB adapter, where that same cable's data (not power) wires are plugged into the usb port in the console (or dash).

This way I get the power on the cable only energized will the vehicle is on (the USB ports remained energized after the vehicle is parked, but the cigarette lighter plug in the console does not) and the data connection of the USB ports in either the console or dash to have my phone's content appear on the vehicle's radio display.

With no power in the cable after parking, I imagine this another way to suppress those annoying connecting/connected messages in addition to the AAWireless dongle settings described prior in this thread.
