It it says premium I use premium. With my Raptor, if you wanted the 450 HP you had to use premium. Don't know about the Wranglers, but if I ever get my 392, it'll get the good stuff.

I don't think it will cause any issues, but you won't get the full efficiency of the vehicle if you have the 2.0 turbo 4 engine if you don't run premium like the manual recommends.... normal 3.6 v6 just recommends normal

If your manual says to use premium, you should use it. It’s only a few dollars a tankful to get all the performance you paid for when you bought the car. That said, the computer in your car will adjust timing so you won’t ping, but you lose horsepower.

The manual for the 4xe says I can burn regular. Curious because the regular 2.0t wants premium.

I have the 3.6 and use premium, the manual says 87 is the min but to be honest it’s only a few $$$ more per tankful ……

I may be wasting $$$ but hey it’s a Jeep and we spend $$ on it

3.6 is fairly high compression engine. Higher compression engines can suffer from pre-ignition (knock) with lower octane gas. If your engine isn't knocking, you are good. I use premium, but I'm at altitude and highest easily available is 91, so that's what I use.

21 Rubicon two door. 2.0 Turbo.
Using premium only to get the most out of the turbo. Does it matter? Dunno. Still going to keep putting it in per the manual.
LOVE the turbo by the way - this thing reminds me of an angry little bee when you really get on it!

Regular octane gas in the 4xe is fine ONLY if you run premium electrons.

IDK how I wound up on this side of JL but you're probably gonna wind up with a bunch of us non 4xe people replying
I've the 2.0 turbo e-torque, so I'll pretend I'm at least half qualified.

My manual calls for 91 octane. Not all states get 91 nowadays. Here in New Jersey, we generally get 87, 89, 93, usually with ethanol. I'll generally fill with 93 at Top-tier detergent gas stations, but sometimes a bit with 87 or 89, especially when only extra expensive stations are convenient. (Looking at you, Exxon)

So long as you keep the mix high, she'll run full power. You can feel the difference between straight 87 and 91 or higher, but it's basically a sliding scale in between. The computer will figure out the timing though. I like to let it think harder sometimes, earn it's keep.

No-ethanol is awesome for mileage, but rarely cost-effective around here. Mostly for racers and marinas. Wish we had more though, fewer all the time.
