My ‘22 High Tide tracks straight as an arrow, zero steering issues low or high speed. Drove with speedo locked in at 85 for 2 hrs straight today on a tollwway and could literally let go of wheel and or steer left to right with pinky also. And I’m running the 35’s at 39psi. And for comparison we had an 06, 13, 16, two 18’s and now the 22. Only bugger steering wise was the two door early gen1 2018.

You're running your 35's at 39 PSI? That seems really high from what most people do. You would think they would wear bad and cup.

I have a brand new 22 and I also feel its dangerous at 80mph. Mine seems to drift back and forth and just feels dangerous to me.
I have a lifted 2019 on 37" tires that feels great at 85mph.

Dont get me wrong. Mine appears to handle just fine. And maybe Im getting use to solid axle life. But I do not feel nearly as planted down in my jeep as I do in my tacoma going 80mph+ I don't literally bounce side to side. But I do feel like I have to correct it more often and it just seems "loose" vs what I am use too.

Let me drive yours and see how I feel about it? lol. j/k.

What about the death wobble in 2023 - did they fix that? Or what needs to be done to a new vehicle (am expecting) to prevent it?
It is extremely rare for a new/stock Wrangler to have death wobble. The odds of it happening are typically when mods are added, suspension geometry is changed, tires aren't balance, and/or bolts aren't tight.

My vantage point is from driving a YJ and JK prior so to me this JL feels awesome! Haha. Yes, the solid axle and the anti-aerodynamics box shape are probably a lot of it. Is your suspension stock? You are welcome to drive mine anytime. Afterwards you might think yours is better than you thought. ?

I'm ready to believe there are variations in steering component quality coming out of the factory. And this may account for some of the steering stories we read here.

But just remember there are variations in what people expect steering to feel like too.

We adapt to steering feel, get used to how something is supposed to drive. Once adapted, we don't notice anymore. Then someone drives your Jeep and asks "is it supposed to steer like this?" Then they adapt too, and never think about it again.

When I read these threads, sometimes the steering complaint is from someone who has never driven a Jeep or a solid front axle vehicle, and they're expecting it to feel like rack-and-pinion sedan steering. That always seems like a mis-match of expectation problem.

But sometimes a new wrangler steering complaint is from someone who's driven wranglers a lot, and is finding this one feels wrong. Aside from tire changes or other mods, that seems like it might be a quality variation issue from the factory.

My '22 JLR 2dr (stock tires, susp) drives as easy and straight at 80mph as I could possibly want. I was surprised when I picked it up; I couldn't feel any of the familiar wrangler SFA vagueness in steering, and I was thinking "how did they make the steering so damn good now?"

Drove my TJ for 22 years and it had that SFA vagueness in steering from the beginning but I soon got used to it. Never noticed it thereafter, as my expectations changed and adapted. This stayed true as I put various lifts on the TJ and various tires sizes--it always steered fine (to my adapted sensibility) unless it was getting death wobble, which I'd eventually fix and it would go back to fine. Over the years, I would go back and forth between the TJ and a sedan with that rack-and-pinon feel and since I was adapted to both kinds of steering, it always felt fine.

My Jeep from the factory had -10 minutes of toe in the front. I have Dunlop gauges and just set it to +20 minutes and it now drives much better.

‘23 UR XR 3.6. Front end feels twitchy, nervous, needs continuous input at the steering wheel. Otherwise it will wander a bit. Came from the factory with 44 psi all around. Lowered to 33 and it helped a lot. Not completely but enough to where the wife is ok with it. We may look into adjustable lca’s down the road.
Have your caster checked. I have a 22 High Tide came with xr package. The lift causes caster issues. I had same twitchy feeling. Replace lower control arms with mopar factory lift arms I think the part #68322798AA. They are 1/4" longer and return caster to about 6 degrees. It is a dream to drive now. 650 mile road tripat 80 no issues.

I’ve got those CA’s. It does drive great on the highway.

My 2020 JLUR is slightly out of alignment, toe is in a bit more than is needed, but it’s steering is crisp with no dead zone and I can say that comparing to my brothers AMG I steal more often than I should. I think it’s just a luck of the draw like others have said.
