Hi Everyone, long time reader first time poster. I’m in the process of ordering my 2019 Rubi (through Craig at Koons) and I’m wanted to get the collective opinion of the forum on two options. wondering if the LED headlights are really worth the extra $900. Won’t some kind of LED aftermarket lights be available forb1/5th the cost?

Also is the hardtop headliner worth it? I had a 97 Sahara back in the day and it didn’t seem that noisy with the hardtop.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-mike
Hi Mike , The LED pkg is for every light , not just the headlights so it most certainly is worth the money !!!

I just recently had one LED headlight quoted for my JL and its at $567,00 ea.

I hope this helps unless you've already pulled the trigger

Yes, I put the LED option on my Rubicon JL and would do it again. Best lights I have had on a Jeep.

Late to the party but, yes!! I still regret to this day not adding the LED lights to my Super Duty which would have been an additional $1200. The LEDs on the wife's Jeep are fantastic!

I have the non-LED, thought they were bad. Didn’t park in garage one night, as I pulled in driveway noticed the lights shining about a foot above where they should be on the garage door

I had been getting flashed. I lowered the beams to proper height and soooo much better. Now difference between high and low is noticeable and low beams much more ilumitive.

Oracle LED bulbs 190 bucks. Good reviews so far. Can keep original headlight housing and switch back to non LED if needed. I’m getting ready to order them. My 2 cents.

I don't care for these. One of my bulbs creates a very distracting "light cast" on the road that I cannot adjust out. It's not my stock housings causing it either, because if I switch the bulbs around, the distorted light changes positioning on the road from left to right.

Worth every penny. If you don't get them your choice but buyers remorse is REAL.

I spent over $500 just to put LED bulbs in my TRD Pro's headlights and fog lights. That's just bulbs. I think the Jeep price is a bargain for what you get. As for the headliner, I sit in my Jeep for over an hour a day waiting at school for the grandkids. I don't have the headliner and the top gets as hot as an oven and it feels like I'm sitting in an oven. The headliner , even if it doesn't keep noise out would be important for the heat. Fortunately the JL has rear vents for the A/C so at least I can cool the kids down (if it ever comes)

I own a LED commercial Sports lighting company we develop LED lighting for High impact outdoor and high mast application where LED fixtures must be of the highest quality and performance. When you consider that in that LED market that cost for high end commercial grade high performance LED lighting is $2-$3 per watt (low end high production commercial LED lighting about $.75-$1 per watt). Now look at the cost for Jeep LED lights with all plastic housing, shorter life, lower lumen performance, mass produced and a cost of nearly $10 per watt (this is for all the LED lights on the Jeep)

$900 is highway robbery IMO, frankly Jeep should be including them as stock on every jeep. With all the buzz about LED this is also one of those items that they can make excessive profit margins. Then consider how expensive they are since the jeep only has a 3 year warranty the replacement is also going to be crazy until aftermarket comes out to compete.

While the LED are much higher performance you can also add LED bars, Blocks and floods for a hell of a lot less. Both the OEM and aftermarket are all throw away fixtures you just do not pop a new lamp in them any more, you throw it away and buy a whole new one, then hope you do not have to buy them in pairs.

There are LED retrofit lamps that make for an affordable interim solution that while maybe not quite at bright as the OEM LED do a pretty good job. As for blinkers and brake the incandescent stock work just fine for their application.

In a automotive application you will find that LED interims of life are really not any better than the stock non LED solution, how often do you have to change lamps on your older cars without LED, it has probaby been 20 year since I have had to change a lamp on any of my cars, RV or trailers

"Are LED headlights worth $900"?

In 2018, from the automobile manufacturer? NO, they should be standard.
With so much emphasis on safety, to the point where some are even taking away some of our fun through autonomy, brighter illumination should be the standard and not the option.

No you don't have to get them. There is options, I changed all my bulbs to led. Someone is going to say I'm blinding other drivers, that's bullshit. I drive over 25 miles on 2 lane roads a day. Never have been flashed, I am lifted 2.5 and set the lights lower like they were before the lift. I've had a JL coming at me with the factory led and it was more blinding. Here is the link if anybody that didnt get factory is interested.BEAMTECH H13 LED Headlight Bulb, 50W 6500K 8000Lumens Extremely Brigh (9008 Hi/Lo) CSP Chips Conversion Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHCQ8KY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_vUi3BbW9FNC2K
