No, fuck that, I know I’m not this weak. I’ve been to the gym.

I first started trying to install RC rear LCA skids. I got the shock bolt off, but could not get the control arm bolt off, no matter what I did. I tried everything, from every position, every angle, upside down, got good leverage, but could not get it off!!

Ok, I give up on that. I also have an engine oil/tranny skid to install. Let’s try the motor mounts. Same thing, no matter what I tried they would not come off!!!

So now, here I am broken and defeated, with my brand new tools from Home Depot and no skids anywhere on the Jeep. How the hell do you all get these damn bolts off?

And now my triceps are sore.

Edit: also just found a cut on my finger.
Idk man. i got it off with a 20in breaker bar. I was smokin a Marlboro red. Maybe thats the trick.

1/2 inch drive 18 inch long Autozone breaker bar with a 3 foot cheater pipe on it will handle 150 ft-lbs and an extra 180* turn for Audi axle bolts that you need a 3/4 inch allen head. I set the 150 ft-lbs with my torque wrench and then turned it up to 250 to see if I could get the full 1/2 turn but I made it about 30* when the 250 clicked.

Just don't slip or you will eff yourself up.

I have a 1/2 drive Ingersol Rand air impact to do a lot of things around the garage but even that Audi bolt was too much for it. Impacts will do a lot of things but sometimes you just need leverage.

I have 1/2 Milwaukee Impact gun that is rated at 1400 Ft-lbs of torque. I have found that the nut comes off or it breaks the bolt.
I borrowed one of those once doing shocks on the Audi. Would not budge the shock bolt. That bolt was spec'd at 110 ft lbs + 180* if I remember. Impact should have buzzed it out like butter but a steel bolt in an aluminum part with 10+ years and 200,000 miles in salt country locked that bastard up tight. I snapped the passenger side bolt with my breaker and it took heat and beat for the driver side to come out

Lol, I tried pulling, pushing, kicking and screaming.
Never kick. This always leads to the bolt breaking, the tool breaking, or the tool going flying off and breaking something else in my experience. I'll use my foot on a lug wrench to break lug nuts free if I don't have an impact with me, but always use my weight combined with a slow controlled leg extension.

That’s all I think about anytime I tighten or loosen anything lol.
And then how long does it take you to remember that this particular bolt has left-handed threads? ;)

Just done mine recently too. Big Dewalt impact - off = easy!

On - not so much. Used a breaker bar with plumbing pipe. If you have a hoist, it's so much easier, but a real challenge lying underneath 'cause you just can't get the leverage.
Don't forget - most of the major suspension bolts are not designed to be re-used.

Use a propane torch with MAP gas. Often Jeep bolts are Locktited in, even if they are not the heat will expand the lands and grooves of the bolt and help reduce any galling less friction.

Second often if you hit the head os the bolt with a hammer a few times that will work. Same principal as heat you reduce friction by loosting galled lands and grooves.

I indeed have a Milwaukee 1/2 impact wrench, they also have one on the farm. On high it is powerful enough to snap a 1/2 in bolt so use caution. So use low to start again same principle losseng up galling caused by torque. Then hit it with a very short burst of high.

Remember its always wise to use new bolts when fastening as old torqued bolts have the lands and grooves altered, thus if you torque to recomended values chances are the fastening will loosen.
