I have 1/2 Milwaukee Impact gun that is rated at 1400 Ft-lbs of torque. I have found that the nut comes off or it breaks the bolt.![]()
This is how I do it.
Idk man. i got it off with a 20in breaker bar. I was smokin a Marlboro red. Maybe thats the trick. No, fuck that, I know I’m not this weak. I’ve been to the gym.
I first started trying to install RC rear LCA skids. I got the shock bolt off, but could not get the control arm bolt off, no matter what I did. I tried everything, from every position, every angle, upside down, got good leverage, but could not get it off!!
Ok, I give up on that. I also have an engine oil/tranny skid to install. Let’s try the motor mounts. Same thing, no matter what I tried they would not come off!!!
So now, here I am broken and defeated, with my brand new tools from Home Depot and no skids anywhere on the Jeep. How the hell do you all get these damn bolts off?
And now my triceps are sore.
Edit: also just found a cut on my finger.

One or the other shits going down hahaI have 1/2 Milwaukee Impact gun that is rated at 1400 Ft-lbs of torque. I have found that the nut comes off or it breaks the bolt.
I borrowed one of those once doing shocks on the Audi. Would not budge the shock bolt. That bolt was spec'd at 110 ft lbs + 180* if I remember. Impact should have buzzed it out like butter but a steel bolt in an aluminum part with 10+ years and 200,000 miles in salt country locked that bastard up tight. I snapped the passenger side bolt with my breaker and it took heat and beat for the driver side to come outI have 1/2 Milwaukee Impact gun that is rated at 1400 Ft-lbs of torque. Never kick. This always leads to the bolt breaking, the tool breaking, or the tool going flying off and breaking something else in my experience. I'll use my foot on a lug wrench to break lug nuts free if I don't have an impact with me, but always use my weight combined with a slow controlled leg extension.Lol, I tried pulling, pushing, kicking and screaming.
And then how long does it take you to remember that this particular bolt has left-handed threads? That’s all I think about anytime I tighten or loosen anything lol.
