I’m no audiophile, but I think the alpine in my jeep is the best sounding stock system I have ever heard. I agree with some of the others that it might be a technical issue that should be looked at by the dealer.

Two things to check:

1. What is the audio source? This can have a huge impact. Use high-quality cables, etc.

2. Have you tinkered with the equalizer settings? They may come poorly optimized (or not at all) from the factory/dealer.

They're not all crated equal. My 2018 Alpine setup was horrible. My 2019 was steps above. My Gladiator was marginal and my 21 392 is awesome.

Definitely not the best system, and certainly not an audiophile setup, but it's far better than I expected it to be given all the additional noise (road, wind, etc) compared to previous vehicles I've owned.

Sub and overall bass quality is far beyond what I thought could come from such a simple setup.

May end up looking into replacing the knee and/or dash speakers down the road for better mid and high's. But I won't really know until I take a longer trip where I have music running for hours at a time rather than a 1/2 hour here and there.

I will say it sounds a little better with the headliner but I don't have any complaints either way.

Might need to make some adjustments?

My Alpine is stupid good. Love the Alpin in our Ram truck as well.

Same as mentioned above but wanted to add…if you have an IPhone use authentic Apple lightning Type C or USB to connect to Audio outlet 1

I have a headliner... and I gotta think that helps with acoustics. And gotta love us that make our beloved JL's into a rock crawler, dragster, overlander, and an audiophiles dream!

For sure! I've even been known to pick up grocerys in it, haha.

It’s not the best but it’s far from the worse. As others have stated, it sounds best plugged into the USB C port on the dash straight from your phone with a bit of EQ to your liking. Bluetooth and satellite radio kind of suck. Spotify plugged in with CarPlay sounds more than satisfactory for me. It’s no high end modern luxury car audio. But it’s not supposed to be.

I thought for what the alpine is from the factory it’s not bad, but I replaced my tweeters with the mopar kicker upgrades and lined the inside of my subwoofer and sound bar with dynomat and stuffed some polyfill in the roll bar as well. Made such a difference and now I’m content with it. I also have the headliner which I feel helps a little too.

So my new Sahara came with the upgraded Alpine system and...it kinda' sucks. Has that tin can sound the many generic factory systems are known for. If this is a upgrade then I have to imagine the stock system is some Campbell soup cans with yarn connecting them?

I am not a audio guy at all and not into major upgrades but this system is lousy. What are your experiences and what upgrades have you made that were not extreme?
Personally mine sounds great, is it audiophile quality, no but I knew that up front. It’s car audio. Home audio setup is McIntosh and B&W with two SVS PB-4000 subwoofers. It’s nuts.
But back to the Alpine premium, it’s flawless in my JLU. Sure I’d love separate components in the fronts and sound bar but for now it works. I’m in line for the OEM AUDIO+ kit but that’s a whole new ball game of audio for this vehicle. I’ll definitely post a review of it once it arrives.

But once again for now the Alpine system is well worth the upgrade for myself. Also adding the hardtop headliner kit really tightened up the sound.
