Has anyone tried the AEV chmsl that is for the JK on there JL.
Does it only need a larger middle hole for the camera and splice the wires?
Are the wires the same on JK and JL and will it just plug into the JL harness?
AEV is saying it needs major modification but I have seen this on there 2 S.E.M.A. builds and dont look to hard to modify.

Thanks

Translation in English, please.?
AEV, behind the spare, 3rd Brake light.

I haven't installed one and don't plan to anytime soon, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to modify to work. Provided you have wheels that work with it. The offsets on the AEV JL wheels are different, but the bracket is metal, so you should be able to bend it easily enough if you need to. I would guess that the wire connectors are different, so you would have to splice some wires. And that center hole in the bracket would probably need to be made a bit bigger to go over the camera. It's only $50 though... so nothing ventured and all that.

I prefer the AEV brake light to the Mopar relocation kit, so let us know how it goes if you try it.

CHMSL is a term regularly used in the industry. If you pull the left dash fuse panel cover on GMT's after the '03 electrical revision the fuse is labeled as such. That's just one example I know for a fact.

Point being, learn the lingo to better function in the automotive world.

CHMSL is easily googled.

But OP, sorry - I dunno. But don't stop using the proper terminology and ignore the haters

That’s fine and all but there were still like 15 typos in the OP; even knowing what CHMSL is I still had trouble understanding what the post was asking.

But yeah, I don’t know either... sorry OP.

So I bought the AEV CHMSL and was able to make it work.
Had to enlarge the center hole about 1/4" on all sides then splice the 2 wires with a weather proof connector.
I also had to grind the inside diameter of the lock washers supplied with the kit since the JL studs are bigger then the JK that this kit is used for.
Now the spare can be removed without having to mess with the mopar CHMSL relocation bracket and light.

SCIENCE!
Harumph! How could you not know an industry specific term? And why would you ask people on a forum instead of doing an internet search?! Why would you ask a QUESTION on a FORUM! Harumph, I say!

Sarcasm aside, using the correct term makes sense, though spelling it out in the title of the thread would've helped noobs AND avoided all the distractions in the thread.

STOP LAMPS NRS 484.555
• Mounted on the rear of the vehicle
• Display a red, amber or yellow light
• Visible from at least 300 to the rear in normal sunlight
• Be activated upon application of the brake
• May be incorporated with the tail lamp
* Vehicles manufactured before July 1, 1969 must have at least one stop lamp if they were originally
equipped with only one stop lamp

Also asked about this and was told as long as it can be seen from 300 ft in daylight like the factory tail lights.
This is as bright if not brighter then the factory CHMSL.
