I recently had all four doors, hood, and tailgate repaired/replaced for corrosion issues on my 21 JLURD. I asked three people at the service shop and body shop when the paint would be fully cured for things like reinstalling my spare tire carrier (I kept it at home during the repairs), hood deflector, and hood sticker. I heard everything from immediately to 90 days. I have always heard 30 days, but I know that many body shops return vehicles with tire carriers, door jam covers, and other things reinstalled. I want to be smart and safe about it, but I also want to get things put back together. I was planning on waiting at least a week, but I can do longer if that makes sense.

I would also love any recommendations about when to wax and what sort of protectants to use.

Thanks in advance!

My understanding, they use heat booth to cure, except for washing restriction, install whatever.

I just had my 2021 JLUR returned to me, with a new hood and door(s). The Rubicon stickers were already on the hood.

i was told I could wash it immediately, but not to wax it for two weeks. That includes not running it through the wax step in an automatic car wash (but just the wash mode is fine, according to them).

I hope that helps.

I've worked in car washes and some of the chemical's in the back are labeled corrosive. Beware!

I’ve used sites exactly like this before. Some were fantastic. Some were… not.

Thanks for the info! I even got two different answers (a yes and a no) when I asked them to clarify if the paint was heat cured. They were great until pickup day. Maybe the glue guy that holds things together happened to be out when I picked it up, because they really did nail the rest of the process and provided a brand new Gladiator to drive for three weeks (without me asking).

You might have been lucky and got new doors before the latest round of back orders. Jeep pushed back and had them repair my doors (and others), because they said they didn’t have any to ship to the body shops. Mine did not look bad at all, so I am hoping the repairs will be ok (if done right).

I would certainly hope so. The confusion occurred when I asked them if the paint had been heat cured and I got both a yes and no answer 🙁. Not sure it can actually be both.

I have some brake work to do, so I am going to give everything a few extra days to cure (maybe a week) before reinstalling the tire carrier, gate reinforcement, and door sill guards. I will probably wait a few weeks for the bug deflector and giant diesel hood sticker.

From what my paperwork says, they replaced the hood and one door, but repaired the other door. Maybe you can determine why by the below paperwork. I think it has to do with the location where the corrosion is found, that determines whether it is repaired or replaced.
