To start this off, I don't know jack about upgrading audio, but like everything else, I research and watch YouTube..

I have a 20 Sport base with an aftermarket head unit. (Teyes). I planned on upgrading the soundbar speakers to 6.5" and eventually adding a sub in the rear..
I asked a friend what to look for in amps. He said if im changing soundbar and adding a sub, I'd need 2 amps.. is this true?
I want to put a box in the rear that can be taken out when I need cargo space, so I was thinking 8"

No, it's not true. I'm running a three channel amplifier in another vehicle right now. Two channels are 100W each for the door speakers, and one channel is 300W for the subwoofer. It works great and is much easier to install & maintain than my previous multi-amplifier install.

It really depends on how much power you need for your sub. You can get a 5 channel amp that supplies decent power to each corner of your vehicle and also to a sub. But, if you need a ton of power for a higher-end sub (i.e. 500+ watts needed), then you'd really want a second amp dedicated to your sub.

Thanks for the replies!! I don't plan on going too crazy with the sub. Thinking 8", maybe 10.. Just enough to get a little bump in the back.
