Well, bought a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 brand new in 2009 and paid additional money to have the lifetime warranty bumper to bumper. Fast forward to June 07 of this year the engine dropped a valve after 325,000 miles. They ordered and installed a new crate engine from Chrysler under warranty, they also repaired left front axle, right bearing hub, A/C condenser and compressor. The only issue is it wouldn't shift through the gears. So they replaced the solenoid packs, valve body train, sensors and a host of other things. They spent a total of 18,000 in total but couldn't get the truck to shift. I spoke with a mechanic friend of mine that said it was a pinched wire and recommended to the service advisor that it was a pinched wire but was told that their mechanics were trained technicians. Okay, so they bought me out for 6000 thousand and I keep the vehicle. Picked up my truck on November 02, I then Drove to my friends shop raised the vehicle and in less than 20 seconds (no exaggeration) he sees a wire connecting the input sensor was broken at the connector. He disassembled the connector and reinstalled with a new wire and then told me take it for a ride. I couldn't believe it!! The truck rides and shift perfectly! Total time was 20 minutes for the repair. That means that I suffered through the entire summer driving a PT cruiser with no AC has a work vehicle. Now I have a descent vehicle with a new engine, updated transmission and rear which was replaced about 50,000 miles ago with now new parts, new ac + 6,000 in cash.

I don't think anybody sells lifetime bumper to bumper Warranties, anymore. it just didn't work out for the insurance company.

From what they showed me the total repairs exceeded 53,000 for the life of the vehicle. No engine issues just ball joints, new transmission, rear was replaced were the high ticket items over 325,000 miles overall a very good vehicle.

My 2008 Wrangler came with a free lifetime powertrain warranty. It’s been great. Getting a new rear diff and a bunch of random gaskets replaced for free as we speak. 185k miles.

Any time I try to use the warranty they claim it’s been voided because they no longer have records that I am the original owner, and we do a two week long song and dance where I provide them what I already provided them. They have each case number, the records regarding the outcomes of each case showing the warranty intact as I am the original owner, but they have to start a fresh case each time and they don’t have access to the data in prior cases. Even when it’s the same person working the case. Is it the same with you?

I should keep this quote somewhere for the members here who always tell me "just put the cost of the warranty in a savings account, and that'll be your "warranty"". Yeah lol.

I never had an issue when bringing the vehicle to the dealership for service WHERE I originally purchased the vehicle, BUT when bringing it to other dealerships they were starting to give me some problems in coverage. My cousin on the other hand who has the same lifetime was told that he missed his 5 year inspection and has to verify his paperwork every time he needs warranty work. For me, hopefully I won't have any issues moving forward as they bought me out.

My 2008 Wrangler was totaled in a hit-and-run in March. Loved the lifetime warranty. Loved my girl SO much. I would have driven her until the wheels fell off 😭 Of the 5 Wranglers I've had over the span of 34 years she was my baby. I never wanted to trade her for a new one like I did all the others. 😔

Missing that five year inspection is supposed to void the warranty. That’s another game they play, claiming they have no proof of my inspections, so I have to resend them the same documentation each time. Your cousin is lucky if they keep honoring his warranty despite missing an inspection.

Bummer! Cars were so much better then in general. Easy to work on, reliable, not much nanny tech, etc etc. Love my 08. No plans to ever sell it. Runs like a top after all these years will likely outlast a lot of the JL’s from all the stuff I read on the forums with engines grenading so soon and clutches catching on fire.

He didn't miss the 5 year inspection, they did not log it into the computer so he had to dig up the paperwork as proof!

Having my rear Diff overhauled also, at 82k miles, covered under warranty.

Ah. Yes that is what happened to me and I have to show them proof each time even though we have been through the song and dance already.

Do either of you have trouble finding dealerships that work on Jeeps older than 10 years? My closest dealership is 5 miles away and it stopped working on vehicles other than 10 years sometime sometime ago. I have to drive 20 miles, about an hour in Bay Area traffic, for warranty work.
