If I told you, I’d have to kill you.
But I will say I used to be a part time dancer, until the paper cuts from the dollar bills got bad and I had to give it up.

My understanding is the off road pages are in the display between the speedo and tach on all JLs. However, only the 8.4 gets it on the radio display. However, I also understand that only the 8.4 has the cell connection for FCA to mess with your jeep over the air. That's why I'm leaning away from the 8.4. Don't think it's an issue? I remember when the first few JLs with the 8.4 were delivered with off road pages, and then a few weeks later FCA took it away ;)

Long story, but here goes.

I originally bought my jeep rubi for 42k. I bought it with the most minimal of options. Thought it was the right thing to do UNTIL I started this thread and hearing stories about how people wished they had ordered things that they didn't.

and so, after reading on here, I started fearing that there might be something I could buy cheaper when I ordered it instead of adding it later.

and so.......down the rabbit hole I went. I was consumed that I had better not "lose the good priced options" when ordering it. I was like a crazed, wild animal when I entered the dealership this past Monday morning.

They canceled the old order and started a new one. They were the dealer and I was their junkie. I couldn't add enough options.

Steel bumpers? I'll take it!
8.4 navigation with Alpine? I'll take it!
Adaptive cruise? I'll take it!
Tow package? I don't even own a trailer, but I'll take it!
Lane assist? Barely even know what it is, but I'll take it!
Auto start? Gimme gimme gimme
Proximity key? Barely even know the definition of proximity, but I still took it.
Cold weather package? By this time, even if I lived on the equator, I would have taken it, too.
I had the painted roof, the painted fenders, and everything I could see I added.

Once the smoke settled, I had ran the price up to around 48k. Did I overpay? Of course I did. How could I not? There would be no regrets. I would not get that jeep and then kick myself for years later wishing I had some stupid option I didn't have. I was unloading money as fast as I could. I showed them, huh?

How did you get it so cheap? I have been playing with the online builder and they say my build is over 55k

If it makes you feel any better now that you were able to add the options, there's an old saying, penny wise, pound foolish. This is one of those areas. Don't skip the tow package if you plan on adding aux kit, don't skip the 8.4 package if you care about anything technology related, don't skip cold weather if you care about being warm (aftermarket seats are great if you have a good installer; good luck finding one), etc. It's all silly expensive from the factory, but when you factor in time and headache trying to do it after, you might as well just bite the proverbial bullet. You've saved 'money' in the end, as long as you measure all aspects of 'money' with rigor.

You get HD radio too.
And, interface on 8.4” is way better. Wish I would have done sahara vs sport to get the 8,4”.
A dirty secret of financing I discovered.. a Sahara is cheaper when financing than a Sport S optioned up. Turns out due to higher value retention, the higher trim meant lower interest rates. The interest rates though were the same between a Sahara and a Rubicon. So I went with a Sahara over a Sport S with options to make it nearly comparable as my payments are actually a bit lower.

Hilarious!!! Best post on this board!!!

You didn't overpay - like someone else on this board said - you didn't overpay if it's worth it to you. I completely agree with that statement...Keep us updateded! If I ever make it to Kentucky, I'm looking you up and buying you a beer!

@wordslayer - $42-48k . Wow! Lotsa goodies for only a little bit of coin! Nice Job!

Now that you have all these great options, make sure you learn about each of those great options and put them all to good use!

@Chomper Wow! What a GREAT dirty little secret! Too late for me... HOWEVER, we'll have to remember that when we order our Gladiator! Here's to dreaming!

Re:Active Noise Cancelling

I have a Sport with the tiny 5" bottom if the line radio. No color, No Off-Road info pages on the radio.
I DO have to say that I extensively used the phone over Bluetooth to make and receive calls. The call quality was EXCELLENT both for myself and the person on the other end..EVEN WITH the TOP DOWN AND DOORS OFF ON THE HIGHWAY. It's simply AMAZING.
Even my Mom who has complained about EVERY Bluetooth device I've ever had didn't even know I was on speaker phone! (Much less in a Jeep with the top down!)
I don't know if the Alpine system or 8.4" radiohead has better noise cancelling, but I CAN tell you that the 5" baseline radio is pretty incredible. Well done, Jeep!

Take one for a test drive and test it for yourself! Umm, check the steering too before you buy it!

And now that you own a Jeep..
Be sure to wave to other Jeeps!
