I’ve had my 4xe rubicon since July of 2021. Somehow I magically managed to not have a single chip until last month when I’m convinced either a piece of space junk fell from the sky or I was shot at by someone. (Not really shot at but there was not a single vehicle ahead of me and it sounded like a gun went off when “it” hit the windshield). So I had my windshield replaced and less the 3 weeks later I wake up to a large vertical crack in my windshield this morning. The “point of impact” is directly under the wiper, how, no idea. I unfortunately did not get a photo of what my original windshield said but I know for a fact it said Mopar, not jeep. My new windshield says jeep and I’ve read terrible things about dot1038 (on other vehicles).
My question is…could this have been a defective windshield? Why would it say jeep instead of Mopar? How could such a tiny speck cause a giant crack? Is it possible this windshield is different in durability than my original? Is there a way to find out what my original was if I don’t have a photo showing?
