Well, you've got a beautiful built up jeep. You're driving the coolest vehicle on the road IMO. Comparing it to my Xterra with factory size tires, which is something like 31-32". It gets about 17 mpg. All things considered I say you're doing pretty good as long as you're not traveling across country.
My 2004 Xterra had factory 265/70R15, 29.61".

Very nice, I have a 427 out of the Chevelle my Dad had right after High School. We tracked down the car but a barn had fallen on it. I got the motor out of it at least. Still trying to decide what I want to do with it.
Find another Chevelle of the same year and put it in.

That or, call me crazy, he could give it to me. Then I could stuff it in my Gladiator, once the diesel is ready to go.

Ya, I'd probably try to find a Chevelle or maybe make a sleeper 2wd pickup of the same vintage.

Or a Camaro, Nova, K5 Blazer . I F’d up and didn’t buy a 72 Blazer in 05 for $28K with a souped 454, 4 speed OD auto, tons with disc brakes, ton TC, ~3” lift, everything new and perfect to the body bushings. Even the top sanded smooth and stunning black paint. Cadillac dealer owners personal Blazer. My wife gave me so much grief about a new more comfortable vehicle, not another old guzzling, bad riding, etc etc vehicle I bought the 4R she wanted :headbang: Lesson learned, V8 Wrangler bought , Your High Dollar Jeep 🧏‍ ignored

I have had two 3.6 V6 and two 2.0L engines in wranglers, currently by choice driving a 2.0.
I like the acceleration better and good fuel economy considering the Mods and aero dynamics of a wrangler. Both engines have been durable and mostly problem free. I know it has already been suggested but I would go test drive at least one of each, keeping in mind that what you test will not be the same once you start adding the aftermarkets to your rig. I am running 35s and have used this size with both engines and both handle those with ease.

Mine are either 265/70r16 or 265/75r16.

I'll correct the tire size to 30 - 31". This actually makes the gas mileage look even worse but its been a great vehicle 👍

Living in Los Angeles were worried about our gas mileage and crappy gas prices. Looking for Rubicon two-door or four-door and I'm debating if I should go 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder. I drive 30 mi a day to and from work and I'd like to go out and explore so cal as much as i can. I know the six cylinder is reliable as hell, but what about the 4-cylinder? Does anyone have any pros and cons for it?
Which ever is cheaper at purchase, then convert to a wood fired steam turbine. Water is always available in most places, wood or coal too. I use top tier coal available at most Sunoco and Philips 76 stores, and 7-11.
Amsoil offers a great DIY kit to feed the fire from the drivers seat, 1000 miles per 100 pounds of coal.
Great option for Appalachia.
