I'm about 1000 miles away from my next oil change, so probably be a month or so before I stop in. I try to minimize my exposure to the dealership whenever possible, but based on a few here, it sounds like there is precedent to cover it. The only thing I'm unsure, is I've heard some of the newer models, eliminating the engine covers, but that may only apply to the 3.6, 2.0, and diesel.

I'd assume Jeep wants a nice clean, great looking engine cover for folks to gawk over!

I'll update as soon as I make a service visit. Others feel free to chime in your experiences.

John
Just noticed the same issue on my 392. Did you have luck with the dealership?

So, they ordered them, never called me to tell me they had arrived. Next oil change, I showed up and hoped to have them installed. They show they came in, and they sold them to someone else.

They reordered them, arrived in a couple days, and replaced them with no issues. The new ones look a lot better than my original did, so I'm curious if this was a 2021 issue. I've only had the oil changed at the dealership, so they couldn't point the finger and say it was on me for some reason.

I did try to get them to let me keep the old ones, and they said nope, but I've had a pretty good experience at this dealership, so it was a mere attempt. I have some confidence these covers will hold up. If you had issues with flaking, get it replaced. It always bothered me to open up this beautiful under hood, just to see the paint flaking. Easily resolved!

Good luck to any others with this issue!

Those look pretty awesome. The replacement factory covers seem to be holding up great. No flaking at all.

However, shortly after having them installed, I found my drivers side wheel wheel liner, in pieces. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence, or if the tech had to access any fasteners from the drivers side wheel well and didn't replace it properly, but apparently at some time, something came lose a part of my liner was ripped off. I took it to the dealer recently and they looked at me like I wheeled it to death and why was I telling them?

Nice. Ive heard of others liners coming loose. Now I have a fluid bottle and part of the engine bay, all exposed to wheel debris from that wheel well.

Mine did the same the dealer replaced the under warranty no question. I also ordered a set as they were only $110 for both. I painted over them with clear coat heat resistant paint and hey are still perfect. Hope that helps

I assumed they were more expensive. I tried to get them to let me take the old ones to experiment with, but they wouldn't swing it. Good to know they are less expensive than I thought. My 3/36 warranty just expired this week, so not a huge downside if I have to replace them in the future. Thanks for the insight!

Apologies for digging up an old post, but my turn to run into this issue. My engine covers still looked pretty good up to now, but as I was doing some annual engine bay detailing, the gold markings on my covers damn near all washed/wiped off with very little "cleaning" effort. I'd say the gold is 80% gone now. Of course, I'm a couple months out of my B2B warranty, so likely not worth bothering to try to get warranty replacements.

Thinking about just buying a set of replacements or getting the original ones painted like someone earlier in the thread posted, but I was curious if anyone else has taken theirs off and replaced them on their own? How hard are they to remove and replace?

Yeah, my replacements have started flaking as well. I don't know if it's the high heat underhood? I've never had a hood get so hot as I have this 392. It wouldn't surprise me if we had hood paint issues way down the road.

But for now, I'm letting my covers be while I add some goodies to the exterior. I don't know if distinction applied sells full replacement covers, but that seems to be the best bet if they will hold up from the heat cycling.
