3.6 or 2.0

Lots of words and history, but the entire world has stopped investing in V6s over a decade ago, in favor of Turbo I4 and I6 engines.

Stellantis will never ever spend one dime on improving or creating a new V6. But they will gladly take the money of the die-hards - that junk is fully amortized by now, even with the horrendous warranty costs.

I would gladly swap my 2.0 for a Junk 5.7 if for no other reason than long term expenses (not including fuel costs). The tried and true V8 would suit my needs perfectly.

That’s great to hear. Personally, I don’t feel my 21 is all that noisy on start up compared to my old 4.0L TJ. Jeeps in general are just noisy. I actually like the tractor sound . I’m glad to hear they addressed it

My 4.0 in my old XJ constantly sounded like a rod was gonna come through the block on startup. That thing always sounded ROUGH. Didn't help that it overheated good a few times due to the head casting flaw and it drinking coolant. But it did last me through college and then lasted several years for my brother until he wrapped it around a tree. Still sounded like shit on startup though lol

I would've gotten that if I could've gotten remote start with it. Our cold winters need cabin warm up time!

Maybe you should study some history and the words within it?
Blanket statements always seem to backfire eventually wouldn’t you agree?
Here is more collection of words; did you know that F1 and Indy cars use V6’s?
One thing they can provide depending on application is a lot of power in a minimal external dimension. Especially if they have a 60 degree or less V.
The main competition for them today is the power made by GDI boosted 4 cylinders that are under the hood so many popular vehicles today.

Entirely politically mandated configuration, because the old engine providers were threatening to walk if a V-derivative was not maintained. In the case of F1, which I am more familiar with, Ferrari threatened to walk if they could keep using their V engines. So we end up with engines that have cylinders of 1/4 of a litter, with no road-going application.

The second FIA removes the mandated V-engine configuration, you'd see I4 and even I3 dominate.

I had never driven a 2.0T, or 8 speed wrangler until last week. Had a rental Rubicon. Didnt pop the hood but by the sound of it for sure its a 4 cylinder. Pretty peppy power delivery, but not significantly better than 3.6. Side note about the 8 speed auto. Everyone is praising it. To me, nothing special about it. It works like a automatic transmission should. It still doesn't read my mind, nor can it see the traffic ahead. Maybe one day we will get there.

Nothing I can contribute to the longevity or maintenance. My 3.6 only has 85K miles and I have not had any work done to fix anything, yet.

I Love the 8 speed.
I had a 2005 SRT8 300 6.1 with the 5 speed auto and later a 2015 300 C with the 5.7 and the 8 speed. Up to 100 mph I would have put my money on the 5.7 8 speed even though it was giving up about 50 hp. And although they had similar yet different tuned engines the 8 speed was remarkable especially on the highway. Sometimes getting as much as 30 on long trips.

They are pretty big in the motorcycle world right now and make tons of power for their size.
