That's pretty much what I did as well when I decided the JK was at the end of its build and I wanted a fresh start. Unfortunately for the JL (but fortunately for us) we found out we got a kiddo on the way and so the purse strings are tightening back up this year till the off season. Plenty of time to fill up a spreadsheet with parts I want lol

Also, since Shrockworks up and went out of business, I've been looking at alternate rock rails and have landed on the Metalcloak overline rails as my likely set: JL Wrangler 2-Door Overline Rocker Rails (metalcloak.com). I've been pretty unimpressed with the amount of flex present in even the frame mounted rails for the JL (which I assume is probably related to the thinness of the JL frame material) and so I'm just sticking to body mounted. It'll probably flex about the same, but at least I'll keep the ground clearance. They seem plenty strong enough for how little I'll probably use them.

I've glanced at the MC sliders a few times, and never realized they were body mounted.

There's certainly a big difference in the standard OEM/aftermarket attachment and what MC is using.

I've beat the crap out of our frame mounted Westin Tri-Tubes. Most the time I wonder how hard it would really be hitting if they didn't drop so far. I guess the only good thing is that they are just low enough to protect the frame.

If you end up going that way, will definitely be interested in how you like them.

I'm pretty set that they're the way I'm gonna go at this point, dig the attachment points (especially not screwing with any body bolts and no interference with how skids interact with the frame, which was an issue with the Shrockworks), and already broached the subject with the wife lol. Might be a little while before the order though, trying to not have too many projects unfinished at once, but will update after the install and as they get used. And thanks!

Thanks! I figure what I'll do is leave it in for the most part for day trips with the kiddo, and it comes out when it's a more serious trip. But probably a while before I need to haul it down out the attic (walk-in, thank goodness). Negotiating stairs with that pig is no fun lol

Thanks! I keep telling the wife that unless the seat company makes racing seats then their seats probably aren't as awesome lol. Figure if the kiddo gets a fancy racing seat, maybe dad should too... and a 4 point harness.... and coilovers.... and a long arm... and a new couch to sleep on...

Winch install inching along - I'm only working like an hour in the evenings after work to get things moved along. Winch plate went in Monday evening:

It's the Mopar winch plate. Generally I find the aftermarket to have a better package than the Mopar kits, but in this case the big selling point was that it mounts behind the bumper plate for the front support as opposed to in front of the bumper plate like the Warn plate:

The Rubicon bumper already sticks out far enough, I wanted to keep it from adding any further length and this fit the bill. Excuse the blurry pic, but I also like that it attaches at the frame horn as well:

Anyway, got the winch loosely bolted in last night and power cables routed. For anyone else like me that struggles with cable management, I went along the inside of the passenger frame rail:

Up behind the fender:

Once up along the inside of the passenger headlight, I went under the fender brace bar, under the air intake tube along the top of the fender, and through the hole in the bracket behind the airbox (I did remove the airbox for this):

Came out pretty clean I think. M8000 has tons of room in the tray. I chose this winch specifically because it's still (ostensibly anyway) at least mostly US made, can be had under $1k, and is smaller and lighter than the Zeon series:

One thing to note, Mopar specs an off-center fairlead adapter for non-Zeon winches (i.e. M8000) - 2018-2023 Jeep Fairlead Adapter Plate for Off-Centered Winch 82215527AB | Mopar Estores. DO NOT buy this if you have a current production winch plate and Rubicon bumper. It doesn't work.

Fairlead holes don't line up, neither does the slot for the rope. With the current production winch plate you need the centered version: 2018-2023 Jeep Fairlead Adapter Plate For Centered Winch 82215528AB | Mopar Estores

The current winch plate has two sets of mounting holes, one set slightly offset, that allows the drum of an asymmetrical Warn winch with standard mounting pattern (i.e. M8000) to line up properly:

Anyway, so that's it. She's coming along, just slowly. Waiting on the centered adapter plate to be delivered and then I can start stringing the Bubba Rope winch line on: 100-Foot Synthetic Winch Line • Bubba Recovery Gear (bubbarope.com). I opted to order the steel rope version of the M8000 as it was both cheaper and allowed me to choose my own synthetic line based on the features I like. The Bubba Rope hdas a nice end loop for a metal-free system, I dig it.

Damn, that winch cable costs quite a bit more than my winch lol, would suck to have someone spool it out and steal it
