More putting words in my mouth. I've already re-stated what I said, multiple times. You keep trying to fabricate an argument where there just isn't one. I didn't "revise" what I said...you did. My point hasn't changed and won't.

I'm with Roy on this one...

What I don't like about the JD Powers surveys are that they include things like infotainment glitches, which I don't really consider issues of overall reliability/dependability. They need to be counted, yes, I'm just not sure "problems per 100 vehicles" is the right metric, or at the brand level, and not at the more granular and specific model/trim level...

Second thing I don't like is people tend to count positions either North or South of Industry/Study averages. When you look at the spread between manufacturers, sometimes the point count isn't that much different. It's also important to look at year-over-year. For example, in 2019, Jeep was ranked at 100 problems per vehicle, which looks to be significantly below the industry average by 7 points... And then in 2020, Jeep appears above industry average of 166 with Jeep ranking at 155 problems per vehicle...suggesting the industry is doing far worse overall, but hey, Jeep is looking good compared to it's position relative to industry in the prior year.

But we're still shooting in the dark here with the "Jeep" brand overall which includes little rat cars and $120k luxury barges, with an aging Wrangler platform somewhere in the middle, wearing a mix of Chrysler/FCA and FCA/Stellantis running and switchgear.

Oh hell, what am I doing, it's too early for analysis. I haven't even had my first cup of coffee.

They definitely do seem to add problem categories year over year. But yeah, the number of positions off industry average is less telling IMO than percentage off of industry average, assuming you even bother to look at the "studies".

And it's all worthless when some rando shows up with anecdotal evidence of a perfect ownership experience, or a horrible one. They do their own empirical research.

Well and that point it ends up just being a "Do I like this enough to agree with the good or the bad"

You realize you're the culprit right or actually I don't think you do which is the problem...
I guess that depends on what you're talking about. It's my fault that I engage children? Or it's my fault that I can't seem to explain things in a way they'll understand? Or...what?

I dunno man I only have this issue with like 5 members here...out of literal thousands. All the others can have mature discussions, they understand what i'm saying, they respond respectfully, and the result is a productive discussion that is educational for all. You realize i'm not new to this right? I've been doing the internet car forum thing for approaching three decades now. It's always been the same everywhere i've been...a handful of members that can't handle behaving like adults and happen to have opinions that clash with mine (or just reality). But i've interacted with thousands of forum members over those decades and formed great friendships and learned so much...so i'm not going to let those small handfuls of kids bother me.

Take you and I for instance - we disagree plenty...but you don't turn into a child when questioned. You have no problem holding an adult conversation. Thus we coexist without issue. See what I mean? It's not about who's wrong or right...in fact in the vast majority of these discussions we're not even discussing facts, we're discussing opinions. It's about being able to act like an adult around other adults.
