Jumped into my new 2023 noticed its missing one of the dimmers. They combined it into one dimmer. I really enjoyed the double dimmer on my 2019. I had the dash lights all the way up and footwell lights dimmed low. Now you adjust all of them together. I wonder if it can be modified to dim each of them separately.

Jeep got tired of all the posts across the internet titled "What does this do?".

The first dimmer did nothing on the Sport trims (I think), and I don't think I've touched it on my 22. I use the heck out of the second dimmer, because the light sensor is a little too touchy. I go into a shaded area and then can't see my radio screen because the Jeep thinks it's night.

Yeah. When I took delivery of my 22, I didn’t know that the footwell lights were dimmable and I unplugged them…. Plugged them back in once I figured it out and turned them off.

A little off-topic, but the best night button in the JL is the Screen Off button. I could live without the footwell dimmer, but Screen Off is a godsend. I live in a rural part of the world. Plus, we’re a “Dark Sky” community with minimal street lighting. The screens of modern cars are a scourge when driving on a truly dark night, and figuring out how to turn them off (for instance, in my wife’s Mazda) is distracting. The Screen Off button is such a gift. Thank you for attending my TED talk.

I'm not happy about this on my 23. I like the option of the lights at the floor but find it distracting when I'm driving. Now you have to dim all the dash lights to make the floor lights go out. I'm wondering if an older switch would be plug and play. Maybe trade someone with an older sport that has the second dimmer for no reason.

One too many people complained that the ambient lighting dimmer did nothing so they took it away.

Not really sure how bright the footwell lighting was in older JL models, but for my '23 it's so dim already that it's hard to tell whether it's on or off. Rest of the ambient and button lighting is super-dim at max brightness at well.

Already mentioned it before, but I absolutely hate the new single dimmer dial and get pissed having to mess with it multiple times each day. With park or headlights on during the day (or with auto on), the gauges and uConnect screen are far too dim to read unless the dimmer is in the upper notch below the dome light being on. At night they're eye-searingly bright unless moved to the sweep portion just below that notch. Imo, that notch on the dimmer should be an 'auto' setting that uses the auto headlight sensor to adjust interior lighting (or max brightness for models without auto, and the sweep always being a manual override of either).

I know not everyone drives with park or headlights on during the day, but for rural windy roads it's recommended and our state law requires headlights on when wipers are in use or within road construction zones (active or inactive). Been driving in this manner for several decades and it's never been a problem with dozens of other vehicles - just find the sweet spot and forget about it.

Sir, request permission to hijack thread: Is there any way to adjust the light sensitivity of our auto headlights? Here in the Pacific NorthWest we are constantly driving in and out of forested areas, and the constant turning on and off of the headlights is annoying. My other cars don't seem to have this problem. Ideally, I'd like to make the lights come on when it's a little darker, and for them to turn off when it's a lighter brighter.

Never could figure out WTF that dimmer was for. I have a Sport S so it seems like the answer might be "nothing" anyway.
your "nothing" would have been lights in the interior door handles and cup holder
