My dealer just ordered my 2021 Sahara 4xe. Have wanted a Gecko for a long time and didn't want to wait until 2022 in case there wasn't a similar color.

What do you mean? I feel like end of the year is more like it. I've heard from 2 dealer's personally that said that.

I wish it wasn't true.
But I'm growing impatient.
Trust me, I’m totally fine with accepting the news that 2022s are not available to order. I would just like an actual confirmation from Jeep or FCA on this matter. For instance, if a June 2021 build guide is released then that is confirmation 2022 orders are on pause for at least a few months.

I’m going to hold out till next Monday. If there’s no new info or June build guide, I’m just going to place an order unless I find a 392 for MSRP in the color I want before then.

Has there been any indication that Monday will be any different?

No only because the May order guides came out May 14 that’s the only reason.

They told me the same thing last week and added that if I ordered now, my order would go to the back of the line once the ‘22 orders were open. I checked with several other dealers and none of them suggested that. My gut instinct was that the only one who’d benefit from my waiting was the dealer, as prices are going up, discounts are going down and nobody seemed to have any real clue about dates or changes on the ‘22s. And who has ever heard of a dealer turning away a ready buyer? I ordered elsewhere.

I've had a few things pop up personally, so I may need to wait a bit anyways. Going to head to a local dealership this weekend just to test drive the 2.0L, make sure I'm good with the power from that.

There's another thread that suggests that any builds with Gorilla Glass or the Headliner (both of which my Sahara Altitude will have) are all stuck in D1 status and not likely to get built until July, probably deliver early August. I'm kinda interested to see where that leads.

Also *really* hoping that on the June sheets, that new Tuscadero color is both confirmed to be the new Chrysler blue AND expanded so I could order that.

My only concern with waiting is the value of my current vehicle, but otherwise, I'm not in a rush. I WFH so during the summer when the kids are out of school, I may only start my vehicle twice a week anyways.

I definitely wish we could get an official update from FCA, though.

Even if I end up with a 2021 it would be cool for some new colors on the June build guide so I can wait for that as well. How far is your daily commute

I mean, my daily commute is ~15 feet from my bed to my home office. But during the school year, I take my daughters to school, so I have ~35 miles/day during the week, and then whatever I do on the weekends. A 4xe would actually make a TON of sense for me, to be completely honest. If the 2022 order sheets open up before I order, I may consider it, TBH.

But if I go 4xe, I'd want to go Rubicon, because those blue accents are dope AF.

Makes sense for me too, my commute to work is 4 miles round trip. I test drove one yesterday and it was really nice. I just don't think I'm ready for electric yet.

GG orders seem to be all waiting in D status not D1

Same here! My round-trip to the office is 3.5 miles. Honestly if I go electric I’d rather have a Tesla model S p100D. I really want to 392 hopefully I can find one.

Nah I can't do cars. I learned that the hard way a few years ago.

It's a baby step toward electric, really, and is nowhere near full electric. You still have the ICE to fall back on if you need it. I am also not ready to go full electric, largely because the infrastructure isn't there yet. But I'm personally excited about the 4xe because it will allow me to be electric most of the time, but still get places that I want to go (like, say, the beach) without worrying about range.

Ugh. Tesla. My desire for one has gone from 1000000 to 0 fairly rapidly over the past few years. Hard pass.

I will probably be an early adopter of a Wrangler BEV when that eventually comes out in 6-8 years...
