I fully agree with the rest of your post, but I'm pretty sure there are batteries in this. These look like branded EV ARC charging stations, so they'd be in the big bit below the canopy.
Weird -- I usually run 18-19 myself when I'm out on the island. I stick to electric mode (not hybrid or e-save) so it takes a lot for the ICE to kick on and I've never had it happen on the beach. I do always turn off traction control/ESC when I hit the sand, but I'm sure you did that too...
I find that the throttle is a bit weird in 4L + electric, but in 4H-PT + electric it is perfectly normal and that combo works great on the beach. I've never felt like I was even driving on anything difficult, even in deep soft dry sand.
What tire pressure were you at?
Yes, nine months on I'd buy the Sahara 4xe again. Or maybe I'd choose the Rubicon? Either way, I'd definitely buy another 4xe. Only issues I've had in nearly 10,000 miles are:
- I had a CEL just after I got it from not putting on the gas cap correctly (annoying but trivial), and
- I got a...
Using it as a commuter BEV isn't the problem. It's using it as a commuter BEV MOST of the time, but repeatedly making it turn on the ICE for very short periods of time so that it doesn't get up to temp (for example, by accelerating aggressively for whatever reason).
I drive most of the time...
Class D is meant to extinguish metal fires. Lithium ion batteries do not contain lithium metal.
Tesla recommends plain water to extinguish fires in batteries in its cars. Note that the fire is extinguished quickly; the continued application of water is to manage the heat in the battery to...
It's amusing to me that people are panicking about lithium batteries catching fire when we have for a hundred years been driving around with tanks full of highly flammable liquid in order to fuel engines that produce mechanical energy via small, controlled explosions. Gas-powered cars catch on...
If you have a grizzl-e smart, check your firmware version. To get onto their new platform you may have to have it replaced.

Looking to buy late 2021 or 2022 4xe Rubicon wheels or wheels+tires with the blue Willys (not the grey; I think they switched in October 2021). I don't particularly care about TPMS or tires; the important part for me is the wheels.
Willing to drive anywhere in NC, and to VA, DC, SC, east TN...
Currently at 807.6mi. I'm going on a ~250mi round trip over the weekend, so I'll have to fill up probably around 1100mi. If it weren't for that, I'd probably make it at least another month/650-700mi...
Annoyingly 40mi or so of the 62.2mi on gas are because I forgot to plug up twice since I...
Imagine using posts on an internet forum as anything other than amusing fantasy. Remember when everyone here was convinced that the 2022 Wrangler order books would open in mid-June? Good times.
You're welcome to your predictions. Not going to argue with you about them, because they're your opinions.
I was merely correcting your bizarrely wrong numbers and your verifiably incorrect assertion Rivian had totally stopped production of the R1T.
And yes, even 12,000 R1Ts a year would be...
As of the end of October, they'd delivered 156 after about six weeks of production (started mid-September), so about 26 a week. All that's in your link, even! Delivering 760 more in eight weeks through the end of the year is 95 a week, hardly a 100-fold increase (not even 4-fold). Production...
The numbers I can find indicate that only 3% were EVs, but 5% were hybrids, which would include the 4xe. [1]
And yet things like the F-150 Lightning from Ford have sold out production reservations for years, and the Silverado EV has 110,000 reservations. Yes, a good number of the reservations...
I have a Sahara and I want to get rid of the wagon wheels. My last resort will be to get regular Rubicon wheels and do something with the annoying red Willys, but I'd prefer to avoid that.
I'm hoping that as 2022s become more common, takeoffs will be more available.
Does anyone know the part number for the newest 4xe Rubicon wheels with the blue Willys? I'm still trying to find a set of take-offs with the blue Willys (in NC, if anyone is nearby is selling), but at this point I'm thinking I may just have to order them...
