2022 392 Stripper?

If they did build a stripper Hemi, I suspect it would be a 5.7 liter - similar to the Wagoneer (5.7) vs Grand Wagoneer's (392) engines. That said, they've built a prestige "sub brand" with the 392. Not sure they'd want to dilute that brand by moving down-market. [But...I like the idea as well.] For now (and likely forever), the only alternative for a stripper model is DIY starting with a Sport.

Stellantis has already announced the end of Hellcat production being 2023. The first indicator was when they disbanded the SRT design committees, the second was when model year changes were dedicated to everything but the power train. It was a good run but clearly never had a chance at being a long one.

As the global consumer thirst for renewable energy grows while interest in driving for the sake of driving diminishes, I fear our lifestyles are in for a significant change. People will look at us in disdain wondering why we clung to our beliefs.

In the day, people were all but certain the fossil fuel (gasoline) engine would never replace the steam engine. Water was everywhere, gas wasn’t. Water falls from the sky freely, gas needed a distillery. They simply could not imagine gas stations popping up along common paths just like their water stops did for the railroad. ”That’s just too unrealistic“ they said as they cut down another renewable tree to heat their water into steam.

Perish the thought but I fear our kids might be the generation that will sit toothless on the porch as their grandkids beg them to fire up the vehicle in the barn with the IC engine so they can hear and see all the moving parts and wonder how in the hell we trusted, let alone loved the damn things to take us to the middle of nowhere……..

By eliminating SRT Sella in a not-so-subtle way is telling the world if you want a big powerful IC engine you had better buy in now. IMHO nice of them to give us a heads-up.

Crate motors....That too. Although projects have slowed for me but may have to put one away just in case.
Few years back I got to see a crate '70 429 SOHC for sale. At the time it went for $35k. Probably worth more now.

I hear ya. When it comes time for me to refresh my Hellcat engine, if the price of parts doesn’t sober me up, I fear the lack of available parts might!

Thanks to your heads-up I'm having a Hellcat engine delivered next Friday. Instead of wrapped in a crate it will be wearing a Challenger

I ordered a 2022 Rubicon XR with the v6. I probably would have opted for a 392, but didnt like a lot of the options that I was forced into.

• I dislike the look of the painted fenders and painted top.
• I do not want leather seats in a jeep
• I want a selectable 4x4 vs AWD

Understand completely and would agree I'm not thrilled about forced options. Kinda like having to order a "package" when I only want one of the items. Problem is I really wanted a V8 in a Wrangler and that was the only way to get it factory built. The price sucks because of all the extra sh!t they put on it. But in the end this thing is the funnest vehicle I've driven in a long time.........no regerts.

Thanks, I'll put up some pics. Since fall of 2020 Stella has been horsing around not giving us an idea on whether or not they will produce the Hellcat in 6mt. Dodge has recently taken that build option away for 2022. I guess we have our answer. So we had to locate a 2020. Pretty stoked............. I love HP!!

If you have the money for a 392

• Wrapping the fenders in black vinyl is dirt cheap, problem solved
• Seat covers, swap seats with someone on the market (super easy) or Katzskin, problem solved
• It still is selectable 4WD, 4H Auto is not AWD. With the torque the 392 puts down you need 4H for many reasons, safety being chief, plus tazer does offer to force 2H, but it's not recommended

Of course, it's your opinion, but these 3 reasons seem silly to go with the V6 over the 392.

Personal preference and opinions had a lot to do with it, sure. I liked the idea of a V8, seems like the overall weight and application of a wrangler (with mods) could benefit from a v8.

For me, it should have been an engine upgrade that costs a couple of grand more. Like the 5.7 upgrade on a Ram 1500 which is a $2,300 upgrade

the 392 wrangler forces me into a whole package that I didn't want at a price tag of roughly $30k.
