Well that sucks.

These are expensive vehicles. How can they treat customers like this? What is wrong with this company...?!?

I’d love to go back to Jeep but stories like this put the brakes on me.

There wouldn’t be all these stupid acronyms if Wranglers were still focused on the one and only real Jeep, which is, a Jeep. 2 doors. Trim don’t matter.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows what you (the royal you) means when you say “I have a Jeep.” 4 door guys don’t really have that privilege.

Anyway, OP, I’m sorry about your bad luck. In my very recent experience, Chrysler will pay for your tow bill and any additional cost after repairs are done. There is a number you call, you email them the receipt and repair order, and they send you a check. I got mine in less than 2 weeks despite their “up to 30 days” disclaimer. Hope you get everything sorted out with your 392.

All,

I'm creating this thread to bring awareness as my experience progresses with my 2022 JKUR 6.2L (17K Miles) Hemi, leaving me stranded on the side of I-85.

Let's rewind the tape to where my adventure took an unexpected turn; on December 19th, I was returning home from Apex, NC, when the Jeep died just over an hour into my trip home to Street, MD. I was driving northbound on I-85, enjoying my ride home in the 392, when I noticed a loss of power and the Jeep dying. Bad gas? Bad Battery?

Unfortunately, I was not so lucky when I tried to start the engine once the Jeep rolled to a stop on the shoulder; I heard awful valvetrain noises coming from the engine. At that point, I started dialing my insurance company to check on my towing options, and I also called Jeep to look at towing options. The bottom line is that both possibilities offered cover up to 50 miles. After reaching a local Jeep dealer who could not even look at my Jeep for another three days, which did not work with my schedule, I was forced to pay $1300 to tow my Jeep to Adams Jeep in Churchville, MD.

This brings me to my interaction with Adam's Jeep, who was able to start digging into the Jeep after I agreed to pay $170 for the diagnostic fee, which would be waived after Jeep approved the claim. No offer of a rental car until Jeep has approved the claim? @Jeep @JeepCare is genuinely disappointing, leaving loyal Jeep customers stranded without transportation options.

The following steps are to call the dealer again today for updates and contact the General Manager to discuss rental options. I will keep everyone updated as I believe the majority of us would hope Jeep will fix this experience for us.
6 2? Is your Jeep a Hellcat conversion?

IMO, when a damn near $100K vehicle that is under 2 years old and under warranty dies on the road, 1) it should be a free tow to the nearest Jeep dealership regardless of disance and 2) there should be no $170 diagnostic fee.

I guess we should feel privileged after the story I read the other day about a guy who bought a new Tesla and after less than 24 hours of ownership and 100 miles on the odometer, the front suspension fell off the car while he was driving down the road. They initially approved it for warranty repair and started work, then the next day they called him and told him warranty coverage was denied and it would be $14K.
I'm gonna have to see that story and why coverage was denied on a car with 100 miles on it. That's insanity.

I thought all 392 were just JLR - 392? or all 392 by default JLUR?

If we are being pedantic (and it appears we are) the JL is implied as well. The U = unlimited = 4 doors. But, yes, the 392 is only offered with 4 doors.

Thank you. Never owned a Jeep before, so learning what I can. (Wife wanted the JL over the LX 600....changed her mind 3 times.)

@matthew_fistler,

Matthew,

My sincerest best wishes to you through your dealership experience struggles. However, to set your expectations even lower than they already are, my dealership struggles go much darker than the picture you're already painting.

I took my 2019 JL 2 Door Sport in for what I thought would be a very minor rear seat latch repair. They wanted to charge me over $1K in labor. They even refused my extended warranty coverage until I produced my original (signed) Mopar contract papers. Then they had the audacity to say "whoops, here it is in our system all along, we just missed it."

No they didn't...

Regardless of all that hassle, they parked it someplace on their property where it was involved in a collision with a parts delivery truck. The damage was substantial enough where the driver rear quarter panel and the rear bumper needed to be completely replaced.

After showing me the damage about an hour after impact, that's how long it required me to get there from work, the General Manager said that they would 'make it right'. He was very apologetic and said all the right things to eleviate my anger, frustration and overall anxiety. Unfortunately, he purposely lied to my face.

The next morning I got a call from the Service Manager that after further internal investigation, they weren't going to help me at all (whatsoever). Nothing! No repair, no rental, not even "have a nice day". It was totally up to me to sue the third-party delivery company for all damages.

Worse, they somehow convinced the police officer filing his report that my vehicle was parked in a public portion of their lot so they had absolutely no legal culpability. What a crock!

How is it that the delivery truck had found a way to collide with the rear corner of my vehicle and hit no others in a full lot? They were busy that day and their lot was indeed full. The clear answer is that they really left my vehicle in a place (likely near a service bay) where a low-(w)age delivery driver in a hurry could easily smack into it.

So I ended up paying the extended warrany deductible for the seat repair which turned out to be zero parts, all labor for a cable adjustment. My insurance deductible (up front of course) for all the collision repairs. The loss of the use of my vehicle for about two months. And since I chose to not hire a lawyer, the diminished value of my Sport for it being in an accident of which I had absolutely nothing to do with.

So not to make you any more anxious but please lower your satisfaction expectations down a few notches. CDJR dealerships can be the most underhanded, deceitful, shysters that I have ever had the bad fortune to have done business with.

They will never see me at any of their locations (for any reason) ever again. Extended warranty be damned.

Good luck..
Sorry I'm normally very optimistic by nature. Maybe sometimes now a little cynical. But every time I think of a CDJR dealer, my blood pressure goes up. My only relief is to share my experience to help put these shiesters into place.

I didn't hire a lawyer, perhaps I should have in order to gain some piece of mind in helping others. So I'm doing what I can at helping anyone else with a better understanding of what potentially may happen when you do business with these crooks.

Be patient, be cool, be cognizant but be ready to shell out way more denero than what you're initially hoping for. To them, you're nothing but a mark with a wallet.

Jay

JLUR is an unofficial acronym for JL Unlimited Rubicon

Jay,

That’s a rough situation to deal with, my hopes are the people at @JeepCares start to turn around these stories. Me too I’m optimistic as I enjoy driving my Jeeps and hopefully things work out for the best.

Best offer I had was they offered to reimburse me a rental cost. Honestly don’t trust Jeep as a company to pay me back. They are horrible with warranty and customer service

Jay, Im not a suing person but in all honesty you should have sued the crap out of them.

This is such a sad state of affairs. Jeep used to be a great brand that seems to have lost their way. If they are not careful and respectful of their loyal customers they will find themselves going the way of the dodo. What ever happened to the customer is always right?

And after that big buck contract FCA signed with the union, the flop of the 4XE and the numerous recalls. Plus the brand damaging fire recalls Jeep might find themselves taking a back seat to the new Bronco. Honestly, its not like they don't deserve it.
