Gary: Hi Randolph, I have a Jeep JL on order, Von# 41113221. Can you please tell me when production will start on the 2 Door JL’s? I have been told April, is this accurate?

Randolph: What the system shows is that your Black 2018 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON is that
· Order is in the scheduling phase of the manufacturing process.
· The parts required to build the vehicle are being scheduled and as soon as they available and ready, order will be scheduled for build.
· Most orders are scheduled for build within 30 days after reaching this stage.
There is no build date or shipping information showing at this time. The information that I received from my mentor is that the production of the 2 door Wranglers will begin in April.

I also have a Rubicon 2Dr on order since 1-11-18. Haven't heard anything but gossip. Maybe Jeep should make up to all of us that have put money down by----------TITLE OUR JEEPS-----2019!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I see it, looking at 2 doors as the only option I’m interested in, it works out- delayed manufacturing means by the time these start hitting the shelf ( so to speak) it’ll already be time to mark them down in price to clear out for 2019 models.

Win win situation imo

SO,........ here's the email I just sent to my dealer.
At this point, i will see what's up in April.
If you think you are getting your 2dr soon, don't hold your breath.
My order date is Feb 5th, I just reverted to a "C" status as did all 2 doors, ie; tentative schedule.
Unless you are an insider, not sure if 6-8 weeks will hold.
I thought 8-12 weeks, that MIGHT be true,... read on;

I'm sure you have heard about the delays by now, so I checked on my status today.

This might help you with new customers so at least they know what they are getting into.

Unless you know something different, I'm thinking anything beyond April, I may cancel and wait to order a 2019 at that point.


The forums and online community is all abuzz about the supply chain issues and some JEEP insiders are saying the 2 doors may not even be built until after summer.


I am not faulting you at all, but this is a bit ridiculous to be rolling out a new year model several months late into the year.

I also have concerns about quality control if they rush to push them out too fast as well.


Let me know what you think about this issue, maybe these chat folks simply don't know, I am patient to a point, it's the current supply chain / production issues that concern me as to quality build, etc.


I seemed to have gone from D status to C status:


Please advise as to what you know from your end, as I am aware that not all things are passed to all people in the process.


C – tentative schedule - (not good)

D – firm schedule: serial number assigned, approx time in station – 5 days

Me Dealer told me a few weeks ago I was in D status

xxxxx: I apologize I'm not sure, that is what the system populated

Me: I was chatting with a guy named Mitchell from Jeep just before you, we got disconnected.

Me: He told me the 2 doors were not slated to be built until April, is that true?

Me: my order date is FEB 5

xxxxx: Yes it is true. C status means they haven't started yet

Me: I see, do you know which part of the month? ie; beginning, middle, or end?

Me: I have not been given a straight answer on when the build will begin, and now I am being told 2 month wait until it even begins? is that correct?

Me: Do we know why the 2018 model is even being built so late in the production year?

xxxxx: Yes, We don't have the control over the build either, we can enter the VIN number and whatever populates on the system we provide the status, sometimes there are delays but we don't have that information

Me Is there a chance it will be delayed after April?

xxxxx: I apologize but we don't have that information either

Me: OK, to recap, you are telling me that my 2 door Rubicon will not even commence to be built until April of this year as far as you know, is that right?

xxxxx: Yes that is correct , further from april we don't have any news about it

Me: OK, thanks I appreciate it, have a great day

xxxxx: Is there anything else that I can look into for you today?

Me: Nope, Just wasn't told to wait 2 months to begin, I was told 6 weeks.

xxxxx: I understand , sometimes delays happened but the causes are unknown


So, there you go, order date Feb 5th, 2 door Graphite Rubi, fully loaded, (ex smokers / floor mats).

Thinking Cancelling and going Sting-grey it was my 1st choice anyway

And that's April of 2019..... ugh....., way to go Jeep, who's the genius that opened the order banks if the plant wasn't going to be ready to make 2 doors at any point in the foreseeable future.

sad, just sad. in a rush to satisfy the majority of 4 door buyers, they have left their core 2 door buyers in a lurch.

if delivery really looks like may/june, it seems to make more sense to wait for 2019 if that’s an option for people.

at this point, doesn’t it feel like FCA should issue an “official status update” for all dealers before the spring rush? those people walking in april or may might not get a 2 door until august

I know you probably don't want to hear it. But I would wait for what you truly want. It seems like an eternity now. But how long will you have this Jeep? 5+ years? Waiting 2 extra months will be a distant memory at some point.

At least that is what I am telling myself.

2) I have no faith 2019 2 doors won’t be delayed until next summer, anyway

Granted, I don’t have a lease expiring or anything like that so an extra 2 months is just a disappointment, not a crisis.

hah! it’s a vespa that i bought my wife for our anniversary, lots of fun - but i’ve also got a dope 2007 camo honda ruckus that i’ve done lots of work on - it’s got a low ride seat and pegs so i’m like two feet off the ground going 35mph with my feet out on pegs easy rider style
