Has anyone had any reliability issues with the 2.0 turbo 4 cyl?
I'm looking to buy a JLU and find several for sale with that engine.
Thanks

Don’t do it!!! Okay, the 2.0L is the least reliable engine in the history of Jeep. It constantly breaks down, it overheats all the time, it misfires frequently, it is a ticking time bomb. Go buy a ford escort.

While the horse has been sufficiently beaten to death, revived, and beaten again on this one.

I've had a Rubicon with a 2.0 for 31,200 miles. No issues, warning lights, problems, anything.
Unless you count the guy who just rear-ended it. But I'd say that's unrelated.

I've average about 19MPG over the life of the vehicle. Most tanks of driving to work and around for errands are in the 19-21 range. Best tank was 23 but that was a primarily 55MPH Highway loop. Interstate driving I see 17's

The 2.0T in the wife's horse-farm-chores JLU Sport just passed 100,000 miles and no grenades have gone off yet. Not even a drop of oil burned nor major deposits on the intake valves. I trust it enough to gamble on a 4xe and so far so good.

I bought my Wrangler with the 2.0 and I LOATHE Chrysler... worst American (is it really still American?) brand... but that resale value made the decision easy.

Having said that... I searched *a lot* about the 2.0 on the internet and couldn't find any articles to sway me in a different direction.

It's a direct injection, turbo charged engine made in Italy... foreign engines are fine if you take care of them, change the oil when you're supposed to, and follow the manual... if you don't take care of it, it will probably explode on you.

So the answer to your question is "How good are you at taking care of your vehicles?"

You are one of the biggest factors of 2.0 engine health.

Oh, it was the fault of the engine you chose. If it had been any other power plant you would have been able to get out of the way.

I had a very bad attitude toward what I considered to be a glorified little motorcycle engine when I bought my 2L 4 cylinder turbo; but, it has proven me wrong. It's been a very good engine, very peppy at rational driving speeds and the 8 speed automatic transmission keeps in its torque band nicely. It isn't an engine for prolonged high speed driving, doesn't like to go too far above 75 mph for long periods and gulps gas when it does. But, up to about 75 mph, it's been very quick and efficient.

I'm at nearly 45K on my 2019 2.0 which is my daily driver. I've been very happy with this motor. I stick to the maintenance schedule like I have with all my vehicles. No failures.

I've driven this Jeep loaded down with 3 guys and their gear, pulling a enclosed trailer with motorcycles to the Colorado Rockies - twice, no issues. I did see the poorest mileage (15 mpg) but then we were cruising 75-80 mph. Trips with the wife to the Ozarks saw better mileage at 23-26 mpg (into the wind/tailwind).

If you like the Jeep and it drives the way you like it to then buy it - no matter what the engine is!

Great engine. Just took mine on a 4500 mile round trip road trip. Did some wheeling in Sedona, Moab and Hurricane. Zero issues. Tons of torque. Decent mileage. Lightweight (compared to say the 3.0 Diesel).
