I forgot about the winter formulation in some areas.
Yep. In general I think given cold temps, new motor (and ecu still learning), different tires -- his mpg is normal. Also even light wind is a large factor, even in the city, and sometimes it's kind of hard to tell when it's happening. My mileage started out the first 1k miles pretty crappy and then started getting better from there, but I think it was more because my ECU started figuring out my driving habits and the shift points became more optimal.

Yes, normal w/ your driving. Should increase over time slightly, and winter gas doesn't help. Not sure how the dealer could screw up tires from the factory -- you switch to snow tires I assume since you're up in BC? Check tire pressures too.
We deleted the stock tires and had them put on Blizzaks instead, but they put a 30" tire by mistake (so in theory my milage should be BETTER). They looked small right away, but I assumed it was just because where I live you don't see Jeeps with stock tires... But I digress. We figured it out pretty quickly (actually, when we checked the pressure) and have decided to switch to 33" KO2's right away instead of buying new winters now and the KO2's in 2-3 months. I need a tire for compact snow and ice, so we will rebuy the Blizzaks next winter instead, and I'll just go easy with the KO2's in the city. They will be installed sometime this week, so I know my milage is going to drop quite a bit.

Having said that, yes I live in a city with lots of hills (and currently snow), and yes I know that the milage will improve. I just didn't want to be worried when it drops going from a 30" tire to a 33". And since my milage is around 15-16 (with a 30" winter tire), how much lower can I expect it to go??

My biggest mileage differences came as my vehicle learned my driving habits and the shift points became more optimal. You might lose a single mpg, at most. BTW, you are hand calculating your mpg, yes? EVIC is pretty consistently off, especially if you didn't reflash for the tire size.

I only have one tank to calculate as I'm on my second tank, so no hand calculating. I do have an app though that says 14.2 l/100 km (my converter app says (16.5 mpg) but the first 100+ kms (1/5th of the tank) was straight highway driving. This tank is ALL city driving. And yes, I'm driving like a granny (LOL). I've told my husband that once spring comes around (and I start doing my usual out of town adventures) that I expect the milage to go down and not up. I'm only half joking, but that turbo is so. much. fun. And Cindy Lauper knows I need to do. lol But for now my foot is light... it's good to know it might only drop by 1 or so mpg! I thought it would be much worse.

Having shorter than stock tires effectively is lowering your gear ratio giving more rpms for a speed. Also, if they didn’t calibrate your computer for your short tires, shift points and speedo would be off. Lots of variables.

That’s right. So based on all these variables, 15(ish) mpg doesn’t seem low to you too?

At first glance it still seems low but with newer vehicles being so sensitive operating outside designed parameters, I’m not confident in what to think. Comparing would be easier if it were stock and another stock and local Jeep using winter fuel would chime in.

Hmm... this thread has me wondering.

I’m in Canada, and am 3/4 the way through my second tank (91, no ethanol). I’ve driven 868 kms (539 miles) and am averaging (I think) about 14.8 l/100 kms (15.9 mpg). With the exception of the first 100 kms (which was around 12l, or 19.5 mpg), this is ALL city driving. Lots and lots of forgotten items at the grocery store (accidentally on purpose LOL). Picking up a friend to take them for coffee, and I’m also house sitting for about the last month... lots of stop and go. My city is fairly hilly but nothing too major (but there are definitely some ups and downs as hills are concerned).

This seems really low to me. Or maybe not? I checked the app and my oil life is at 90%... I expect that though.

2020 Sahara (no etorque), and in full time 4h auto (selec-track).
My 2.0L really picked up mpg around 4000 miles after 1st oil change.

Good to know! I figure it's just a result of all the things mentioned (snow, lots of stop/go, hills, etc), and of course that whole engine break in thing. I'll wait it out another few thousand kms. It will change a LOT in the spring too, for sure. Winters I ski and snowshoe, but the ski hill is only a 15 minute drive from my house. In the spring (like the day after the ice melts) I'm on the lake. Any lake. We're surrounded by them (lots of highway driving). :like:

I mean if you put smaller tires on and didn't re-calibrate your vehicle (this is an assumption that you didn't -- apologies if I misread) your mpg is wrong since as you said, you haven't hand calculated. Also, mileage driven on the dash is also wrong. So is your speedo. It's important to ensure the vehicle's computer is calibrated to the size of the tire on the vehicle.

If I truly drive like a grandma and leave Auto Start/Stop on, even with heavy beadlocks and 37s on 3.5" of lift with heavy bumpers and a winch, I am still getting 16-18 mpg. This is trying to maintain around 40-45 mph.

Personally, I think with 33's (KO2) and a correctly calibrated vehicle, assuming no real lift or not much of one, no winter mix and a properly broken in engine after 4-5k miles, I'm guessing you'll be around 18-19 mpg.

I've had my JL Sahara (2019) for a couple weeks now. I drive in 2High and have done around 900 miles so far mixed motorway and urban. When I got it the mpg was 15mpg based on the dealer driving it between storage and showroom and fuel station. I've put 98ron octane fuel in it initially and then now run 95 on the last tank. I get around 400 miles plus out of a tank and my MPG is between 24 and 27.5 depending on how many short trips I do. I find if I drive 4+ miles in urban areas (30-40mph) and dont accelerate harshly I get 25mpg. anything over 80mpg drinks a ton due to the aerodynamics (or lack of). I'm shocked how efficient it is for the shape and weight and having the performance there is a nice plus when you want to burn some fuel.

My 2020 Willy with no engine mods. Using 89 octane. After 5000 miles posting the mpg. Reset this morning on the drive to work just as a goof. 45 miles 38 of it highway. mused the cruises control to regulate speed avg speed was 65 on the highway. And yes is up and down highway some rises and some downhill. Rest of the miles was on side roads with lights
