A big shout out to Jones Auto Center in Wickenburg AZ. Their mechanic found the perverbial needle in the haystack. I kept getting an intermittent check engine light and the fuel economy was running 15 to 16 at best. The CEL was not on when it arrived at their shop but the mechanic went through the Hybrid system and found a pin on the 48v wire harness that was out about 1/8th of an inch. Enough to make contact but not seated correctly in the harness. (Passenger side connector) They delivered it to my house this afternoon and the overall fuel economy is now up in the 20's where it belongs. 7 miles per gallon increase after fixing a poor connection. Hopefully the last of the gremlins.
Makes one wonder if "The lithium battery is bad" that some have been told isn't a knee jerk diagnosis.

Probably the batteries are good and something else like a wiring harness in to blame. i remember Vw Audi having battery drain issues with Touregs and Q7’s and they were knee jerk replacing expensive batteries left and right. It turns out a lot of issues were with door handles w/ keyless entry were going bad preventing the vehicle from “going to sleep.” There’s your battery drain. For this Jeep it could be the case there are still wiring harness build issues like this unseated pin. My 2.0L has been trouble free from the start at about 1000 miles now.

Update: I just got my turbo back today! It has been a long process. No CEL so far. I dropped it off on 8/17 until 9/11. They replaced the battery-power pack unit twice. The first replacement was defective. So glad to have my Jeep back!:jk::flag:

I had a problem with my turbo right on the way home - load high pressure gas discharge sound under acceleration/loss of power. I did not push it during the test drive - I should have.
Took it back to the dealer with 50 miles in the car - it turned out to be a missing hose clamp on the turbo. I love this jeep - but have a nasty feeling I'm going to regret this.

It's very obvious FCA QUALITY CONTROL DOESN'T EXIST.

I understand your frustration and initial lack of confidence with FCA QC. Most brands have pre-production QC issues early in the production cycle. A hose clamp should have never been missed. It's a easy fix though. You have a warranty, Hopefully replacing the missing clamp is the end of your issues and you can start enjoying your JL soon. It's a really fun vehicle. I think your confidence will slowly be restored once you start putting the miles on. Hope the dealer gets you on the road asap.

Just hang in there. They don't want to deal with a class action lemon law, so they have incentive. The engine is a good one, my neighbor has the same in a Alfa whatchamacallit (surprisingly cheaper than you might think btw) & it has been fine. I don't think they have the 48 volt battery in those though? I'm hopeful & still want one.

Relax, guys, a few of these on an internet forum does not make for a massive QC issue. I know it is frustrating, but early adopters deal with these kinds of things, with every manufacturer. They are teething issues. I'll bet they get these things sorted out and your 2.0 engines will be excellent power plants, maybe one of the best ever put into a Jeep. They are making a shit-ton of these things. People not having problems don't often post on forums.

You are going to wind up with an engine very well matched to your Jeep. While I absolutely love the 3.6, I'm really looking forward to taking a ride in a 2.0 at some point. That's lots of power out of small displacement!

Here's an update on what happened with mine: Took it in for service on the 31st, got it back on the 6th...they said they replaced the Oil Pressure Sensor and flushed various fluids. Since then, no CEL...but now I get this strange whistling from my steering. Doesn't matter if it's idling like normal or auto-stop and it only happens on random positions. I'm bringing it back in to service on Monday to address TSB 08-092-18 as well as hopefully this weird occurrence.

Definitely a weird one there. Is it louder outside with the hood open?

Dang it!, Went over a week without a check engine light. I though we were around that corner. Dealer Picking it up today to see if its the same issue or a new one.

What light lit up? The actual check engine light or a light that looked like a BATTERY? I am asking because I took a brand new 2.0 out for a test drive and the light that looks like a BATTERY lit up. The BATTERY light started flickering a mile during the drive, then turned off, then turned back on for a few minutes, then turned off, then back on after a couple of more miles. It eventually stayed on. This was a brand new JL with less then 25 miles on it. It was the only JL 2.0 they had on the lot.

I just remembered the BATTERY light I am talking about might not be the same on other JLs, depending on models. The dash or instrument cluster is different depending on the model. I should note the JL I drove was a basic 2.0 Sport. It was the only 2.0 on the lot. I actually wanted to try a Rubicon but they only had the Basic Sport.

@viper88 I am pretty sure the instrument cluster is the same regardless of model. The radio and heater controles are but not the instrument cluster.

There are 2 different instrument clusters. A BASIC and Premium. The Basic Sport cluster has mechanical looking needles for gas and temp like a traditional older car. The Rubicon has a Premium electronic display. The light I saw was the BATTERY shape and is probably the same warning for both clusters?

I just looked at a PDF of the owners manual. Page 188 shows the BASIC cluster and Page 189 shows the Premium one. The regular CHRECK ENGINE light looks like a engine. It looks like the BATTERY light I saw lit up is for the charging system. Pretty sad to see a brand new car with 20 miles or so have charging or electrical issues right off the bat. Definitely not what I was expecting on a test drive. The service advisor had no clue. He mumbled something about it being a totally new engine and his tech needing to look up what was possibly wrong. The e-Torque has additional batteries and the 48V system. I wonder if it has anything to do with that?
