I was expecting a huge drop in performance putting the mopar lift and 37's on recently and... if anything its minimal, this engine easily handles it
My effective gear ratio changed from 3.45 to 2.98 but from a performance and stopping stand point the change is minimal for sure and takes off like a rocket when you want it to -I think it should be worse and doggish but isn't-
MPG did change but oddly. It's down from what it was from a stop, like 4 mpg till getting close to speed (at normal acceleration), it actually does much better than before cruising between about 25 and 50, hits 8th gear at 61 mph on a flat surface and mpg is slightly down there but then.....
The big mpg hit is 70 and up !!! - If your driving the freeway and you like to go fast its not good. Then again we never took this Jeep on the freeway before the test but man did those numbers drop !!! Like 22 but then drops down to 14 on every tiny hill regardless if I let it downshift or manually keep it in 8th and the average at those speed is under 20.
-why ?-
Gear ratio ? that wouldn't make sense as I'm actually now running it like a gear above 8th if it's in 8th - but I'm certainly not ruling it out as others have fixed this with gears so I have to believe thats part.
Wind resistance ? - possibly, not only is it hitting the wider tires now but its now hitting much more tire now as the whole unit is over 7" taller. Also could be more "front lift" from the huge space under the Jeep that didn't exist before plus we had to take out those goofy plastic splash guards for the tires which may have been there for aerodynamics.
Extra weight ? - Tires, wheels, lift, steel running boards, spare mount all adds up
Rotational mass ? - Certainly when you start out for sure and would explain that issue but once you get a train moving not so much an issue
2.0 review with stock 3.45 and 37's - performance spot on - mpg takes a hit starting off and 70 and up. Regear if you think that will help but mostly just enjoy the new ride :)

You are correct, not a dedicated rock crawler. My wife has the same engine in a 2021 JLU High Altitude Sahara; that's been my comparison, performance wise, as well as my memory of the feel before installing all my goodies. My Jeep doesn't seem to accelerate as well in freeway driving, but I do get to 8th on straightaways/hills fairly often. I will probably do nothing right now, as it is not a serious issue, I just like the discussion to know what my options are down the road, so to speak..

How close do you need to be on the speedo to be considered acceptable? I'm around 1 mph above indicated, (according to GPS); the increments on the Tazer are not really finely adjustable. I have 35" K02's.
That is amazing-I went from stock to Rubi take off’s (33”.) and I’m off about 4 mph @ 70.

My Xtreme Recon 2.0T has 4.56 gearing and does not feel sluggish one bit. Gearing is extremely important. Especially when it comes to extra weight and tire size. As others have said.

Now, imagine what it would feel like on some 32s!

I've wanted to try it. ?

I agree though. The 2.0 and 4.56 is perfect. The XR is the perfect balance with this combo. I drobe a V6 etorque and it wasn't as peppy.

How much should a 4.56 regear cost on my 2022 JLUR, currently with 4.10 gearing, 2.5" lift, and 35's?
Would my gas mileage suffer?
I've asked for a quote from a local shop, but haven't heard back yet

If you're going to regear go up to at least 4.88 unless you want to go 37's or bigger. Then consider 5.13. 4.10 to 4.56 isn't much and you'll likely be feeling performance similar to any mods/larger tires. 4.88 will give a noticeable difference from what you have currently.

I haven't regeard my JL, but my JK was $1800. I've seen lower and higher. So I'd say in the $1500-$2500 range is what you'll be looking at depending on what brand of gears and the shop who does it.

So, would the consensus be I should go to 4.56, or 4.88?
Are there any downsides to regearing, besides cost?
This is a daily driver with some light to moderate off-roading; I wouldn't want to harm its daily driving characteristics too much.
I don't intend any increase in tire/lift size from where it's at now.
I appreciate any advice.

Regearing will not be the magic bullet it was in the days of 3 or 4 speed transmissions. Lower gears will help mostly when the transmission has run out of range; either crawling or cruising in top gear.

Midrange acceleration like merging or passing 40-60 won’t be much affected. It’ll just result in the transmission shifting to a higher gear sooner. Net result in total gear reduction at any particular midrange speed/throttle position will be nil.

My biggest concern is freeway acceleration, like from 45-75 mph; otherwise, I don't have any real complaints. It would seem, from what was just mentioned, regearing may not help too much in this regard.

@JKWMD Not sure if it's been suggested, but I have a Superchips TD3. Great little flash device. I've actually been running the Superchips tune for 17k miles now and still love it. I have their engine tune and transmission tune installed. Really wakes up the 2.0 and a really big difference in daily drivability. The extra TD3 features are just a plus to the tuning for me. I find actual tunes work better for me than inline devices or pulling the battery cables or fuses to reset engine or transmission controllers.

I was considering a tune, as I had my Audi tuned in the past, but it seems there is not much available for the 2022 2.0L yet

What's with the 2022 2.0L that the tuners are having trouble delivering products, anyone know?
I checked all the big guys and nothing available yet.

Changes to the way the factory tune works. You may want to give SC a call. Maybe they support it already? If not, I heard they were very close. I love mine. When I first got my '20 I test drove a JLUR on 35s with 20 inch "bro" rims that had the 2.0 etorque and their tune in it. Mine is a JLUR 2.0 etorque too, so it was a good comparison for me. Just driving around town that jeep felt peppier than my stock JLUR. I was sold after that. Went out bought one of their tuners and never looked back. Been happy with it ever since.

A 22 has the gpec 5 which no one has cracked yet. Hp tuners is working on it and i do believe super chips are too. This ecu change somehow caught everyone off guard so there is zilch besides the jb4 at this moment. I asked Superchips in thier vendor thread for the new flash cal. J scan/ tazer still work just no ecu tune. Still trying to find out if a trans tune would be doable with out the ecu
