Hi,
I was hoping I could get a summary, in one thread, of the various performance enhancements available/recommended for a 2022 JLUR, automatic, with the 2.0 L engine. I initially liked the performance, but since I've added on a number of items, which added weight, my performance seems a bit sluggish. I was hoping to get some recommendations, from mild to wild, on improving things a bit. I'm fairly handy, but not overly skilled, and am concerned about the warranty somewhat.
I was hoping to hear from those with actual experience with the suggested mods/enhancements, and the associated pros/cons.
Thanks in advance for any help, and links to products would be appreciated.

There are quite a few threads here.

Don't think anyone has collated all into one thread. Are you volunteering? ;)

You didn’t provide details on the type of mods you’ve done.

The single, surest way to compensate for the nonstop stream of mods added onto a Jeep is to regear.

I've put on a winch, 35 inch tires, new wheels, tailgate table, rear cargo shelf, and a front Rock-Jock tow plate. It doesn't seem like much but I'm sure the weight adds up.

What you're feeling is not weight. It's rotational mass. The engine, gearing, and transmission shift points are specifically made for the stock tire / wheel size.

You need to re-gear your diff and update the transmission shift points.

I have a Willys Sport XR with stock 4.56 gears and 35s. But I used to have a Jeep on 35s with longer gears and a V6. It was terrible compared to the XR.

Generally speaking, a Jeep on 35s will drive adequately with 4.10 gears, borderline with 3.73 gears, and be a total dog with 3.45 gears.

The 8-speed automatic does an excellent job of masking the issue, though. Best is to display the speed in which your automatic transmission is at any given time, and monitor how it behaves. If you don’t see your transmission shifting into 7th and 8th speeds, even on the freeway, then you know you have a problem.

Here’s a short video on how to display your automatic transmission’s shifts

I'm always interested in the 2.0 threads when people are discussing power..

I still have a 20 sport w/ stock D35 & stock gears, (whatever that might be), on 37's.. I did adjust tire size w/ the TAZR. The acceleration on it, to me, is very impressive! Just yesterday, I had to get into the left lane to pass someone. I hit that gas & it's like a bullet! I literally had to let off the gas as I was passing because I was nervous at that speed on such a narrow road. When I got back in my lane after passing her, I noticed my speed was 72.. One of these days, I'll look to upgrade the rear to a 44 & regear then. For now, I'm more than satisfied with the power...

Odd… I’d guess you need to update tire size for shifting points. I’m running the 2.0L on heavy 35’s and love the performance. I have steel bumpers and winch, rear storage rack and recovery gear in the rear, so comparable to you, and have zero trouble spinning tires if I want to.

Only other thing I can think of is if you’re on a manual trans. Since you didn’t say if you were auto or manual.

+1 on the comment regarding the effect of rotational mass.

E.g., my winter tire/wheel combo is 20 lbs. heavier, per corner, than is the factory wheel/tire. That seemingly modest difference, when paired with the reduced efficiency of winter-blend fuel, reliably reduces my average fuel mileage by 3.x mpg. And that's just one thing done to the vehicle.

I've not really noticed any difference in power delivery (i.e., acceleration), but I'm also a comparatively conservative driver...as some conditions require.

I have the 8-speed auto. Don't get me wrong, it's not a dog, just noticeable. I may just be too sensitive; I can certainly live with it. I'm a bit unclear how the shift points can be changed; I don't see that option on my Tazer.

The easiest thing to get more power out of a turbo engine is to get a tune. It's the first thing I did with my VW... but I've never felt like this engine has lacked power... but mine is all stock.
