Changing out the PCV valve with the updated one made NO difference in the amount of oil that my oil catch can collected.
Before and after the switch oil that was collected was exactly the same.
Though I wish it helped ya out, thanks for sharing the outcome.

I run 6 quarts of 5w-40 in Pain Train.

I wouldn’t worry about 0w-20 being an issue. Just keep up with the intervals and you’ll be just fine.

I’m not sure where the thinner oil fear has come from. MFG’s have been using 0w for well over 10 years now. There is nothing wrong with 0 winter weight oil.
Would running thicker oil have any ill effect on the oil pump though?

You’re asking the wrong question. Viscosity is a static measurement at a specific temp. Does your engine run at a single temp?

Viscosity is dynamic in an engine. Whose oil is ā€œthickerā€, mine at 0w-40 or someone else’s at 0w-20? Answer is you can’t know unless you know the temp of the engine oil. My 40 weight can easily be at a lower viscosity than the other 20 weight if I am warmed up and other is cold start, or I am crawling or towing up mountain grades, or I’m on 40s flooring it from stop light to stop light and he’s cruising at 45 mph on stock tires Etc.

Therefore, if my 40 weight is lower viscosity in these conditions than the 20 weight why wouldn’t it pressurize? They are both 0w winter rated.
