Do you have a new JL Wrangler with that louvered plastic piece on the back. It looks like it could be something but sadly its just for looks. BUT! is it? Yes it is. So here is a cheap way to make it something.

Start by popping it off. This is done by pulling straight out starting next to the power cord strap. It just snaps in so give it a tug.

Then buy yourself some straps. HitchMate makes some decent ones for less than $10 (amazon)

Then thread them in how ever you want.

I used mine to hold a fire extinguisher. But you can put a shovel or axe the world is your oyster.

Did you have to remove the panel to thread the straps?

Thanks

Yeah I’m curious to know too! I went out today to start hooking things up to the tailgate and it looks like it would be a real pain in the ass to thread the straps!

How secure is that back panel once items are strapped on? Will bouncing around pull the panel off over time? If not, very cool!

I know the mollie on the back of the front seats seems really secure.

The tailgate panel does as well! Haven’t used ether yet though.

I have it strapped down pretty tight so i have not noticed any bouncing at all. I also put a piece of pipe foam around it to pad it.

For the fire estinguisher there is also the Smittybilt fire estinguisher holder which is pretty cool.

Once is available I want to add the table to the tailgate! Is a pretty cool thing they have that from Mopar!
