I am replacing my front plastic bumper with a RH aluminum. I removed all the upper and lower plastic and the side fog covers from the back. All 8 large nuts are off. The bumper is loose but the lower side seems loosely attached. I have looked behind with a mirror and from underneath. I just can't find anything. Do I need to remove the entire plastic bumper coverAny insight would be appreciated.

Did you remove the air dam, unplug the fog lights, and try just pulling it off?

Did you get it off?
Nah, gave up at dinner/dark. It's just getting light here on the west coast. I'll take a look at it after some coffee.

You don’t have to separate anything on the bumper. The whole assembly should come off lights and all. If the splash guard is removed along with the metal plate, the only thing holding the bumper on is the 4 bolts. It should just pull right off. It does take some effort though.

What "metal plate"?

Did you follow some sort of instructions for this or just start pulling things off? I’m trying to go off of memory here but I didn’t have anything written down when I pulled mine off.

I’m pretty sure you got it all though, how much resistance is it giving you?

I used the RH instructions, but they were pretty pathetic. Seem to cover a few configurations with no pictures and minimal text.

Feels like it's stuck at the lower studs. It freely rocks like it's hinged about the lower studs.

That’s stupid stamped piece of metal that acts as some sort of pathetic protection for the e-disco.
I didn't remove any plate from the e-disco. I'll crawl under and look, but it seemed to be completely separate from the bumper.

Mine was tough to remove also. Probably the frame rail horns not perfectly straight.. I just took turns smacking each end with a rubber mallet and it came off. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the ADD site and grab my mallet. I suspect it's completely disconnected, but the holes of the side doublers are restricting the movement.

There’s a couple of brackets along the frame rails that can be loosened as well. If they’re slightly misaligned with the frame rail holes they can cause the bolts to stick.
