Has anyone fit the Rubicon skid plate for metal front bumper to a plastic one?
I doubt the bolt holes would line up properly.

Looking for someone that has tried it.
I’m going to dealership parts today to see.
I can compare the two tonight when I get home, I still have my old bumper at the house.

From what I could gather you'll need the following parts

Skid plate - Mopar 68293984AB
P side bracket - Mopar 68353836AA
D side bracket - Mopar 68353837AA
4 x nutserts - Mopar 06511076AA
4 x bolts for brackets - Mopar 6104414AA
2 x bolt for skid plate into brackets - Mopar 06512587AA

the steel plate uses different brackets than the plastic one.

Yeah, you’re on the same page I was on....
I picked up the skid, brackets, etcetera. I discovered that the holes in the metal support, within the plastic bumper cover, do not match the mounting holes of the skidplate. I was planning on drilling new holes. The parts were approximately $125 but I’m not going to drill that support because it would deform under pressure on the skidplate.

It’s easier to just rotate the swaybar disconnect motor up and reattach using an open hole from the casting process. Just need to tap threads into it and use a longer bolt. It worked well on my JK with no problems. That way I can cut off the two supports for the plastic/steel skidplate/fairing just like on my JK.

So, yes, the skidplate can be used but it takes some holes that will weaken the actual front bumper cross support.

I’m going to make a bumper. First thought is to create it with a lower skid incorporated to have less steel but hug the frame rails. Sort of boxing in the frame, like I’ve done on the rears of my jeeps in the past.
That’s why I dumped my Gladiator and got a 2020 JLUR. I plan on using it as a rolling showroom eventually.
