Greetings all,

I just took delivery of my first Jeep, a brand new JL 2-door Rubicon. I am loving it so far, but there is a nagging issue and I don't know if it's worth getting fixed since it's only nagging.

Anyway, the speedometer needle has a defect, and when it is anywhere from 10-25 mph the back-light bleeds through and kinda shines right in my face. It's weird to describe and obviously taking a picture would be impossible (or at least grossly unsafe) but still I wonder if it's worth getting fixed. It's distracting, but only when the needle is in that range.

They would likely just need to replace the speedo needle, but I have no idea how difficult that is. It might be a 30-minute job or a 3-hour job.

I don't want to be a bother about this, but I also just spent a lot of pretty pennies on this brand new Jeep and expected things like this to be perfect.

Thoughts???

I would try not to concentrate on it. Mine has a similar light bleed, but I don't focus on it. Mine is small...about the size of a needle. No worries.

I'd just ask the dealer if it can be fixed.

Mine has it too. Yes it bugs me a bit. It's almost like a laser dot coming out straight to my eye.

You spent a lot of money. Get it fixed or it will bother you. You can't un-see it.

Thanks for the responses. I agree that it will bother me so I'll ask my sales person about it tomorrow. For what this thing costs, I don't want to settle.

For what we pay for these things, I would have them fix it. I want that speedometer needle to move like a ballet dancer, glisten like a diamond, and moan like a porn star.
This!! ^^^^^

Mine does same. I don’t look at speedo that much, tho. That should have been digital instead of analog anyway.

To fix this, they will most likely have to take your dash apart to get to it, no? If so, do you really want them to do that? They may create a rattle that isn't currently there. I prefer a light bleed as opposed to a rattle. It's just not worth it.

I notice the same with mine, but It doesn't bother me enough that I'm willing to risk having the dealer take apart my dash.

Side note: Two doors rock!

I have the same "issue" (not really an issue-- just a design flaw, really). Sometimes it catches my eye and I have a brief "oh, sh*t" moment thinking something is flashing on the dash. I suppose I could have it checked out.. but, considering most dealers can't even seem to put the correct amount of oil in during an oil change.. I think I'll ignore it.

I actually never look at that speedometer. I just set it on the center screen somewhere and never look at it unless I’m comparing the two for some reason.

So is there a "fix?" Isn't this designed this way and we all have it? Wouldn't every jeep on the lot have this? What do I say to my dealership?

Isn't this just a "Jeep thing?"
