When driving in the snow today hit some slushy spots and Jeep started to float on top of slush to one direction. Is this normal for wider tires mine being 35s 12.50. Bit scary was going same speed as everyone else. First Jeep here..

yup... wide tires and somewhat light vehicle that'll happen in snow and standing water... and they like to float in mud at speed... kinda what they were made for (tires)

Yep basically 90% of the people one here never had a jeep or lifted truck , or any tire beyond a 29ā€ ever to experience phenomenon like this . So iā€™d say youre in good
Company...

I'd say you're shooting a bit low on the percentage.........

Also note that lower tire pressures, like we see with bigger tires, increase the likelihood of hydroplaning in general.

In basic terms---the wider footprint and tread design, will improve your SNOW driving, but--

No matter what the size/design/air pressure of your tires, there's ONE BASIC-snow driving RULE you've gotta remember--

NO TIRE SPIN and that counts ALMOST ALL THE TIME IN SNOW-

Would that happen with 315 KO2s?

That will depend on YOUR DRIVING--they are still decent tires in SNOW, SO-

Your driving will determine there performance, no matter what the air pressure--

Be careful/slow and use 4hi, until they CLEAR THE ROADS-

Which tire are you running?

In my experience, tire brand/type matters more than width. I've run some that were downright scary and wanted to hydroplane in a heartbeat, and others that are rock solid in foul weather.

Tires like the BFG KO2, General ATX, etc. that don't have circumferential channels to allow water to evacuate quickly are particularly bad. Tires with higher voids and open channels that can push water out fast tend to stay planted on the road better, especially if they have siping.

Usually if it snows I just stay home. But sometimes you end up driving in it.
I always crawl. Itā€™s the other idiots on the road that scare me more.

That's EXACTLY how I feel, especially going over the Sierras--

I wouldnā€™t think a wrangler is light but guess compared to a ram truck it is.
