I have the rubicon. Will these bulbs work as just plug and go? Also what are you using for the daytime running lights?
Thanks for the solid links!!
Yours should be the same as mine. The clear bulb is the drl and the amber is the turn siginal. You will get lamp.out and hyper flash in the dash. I used my flashcal JL to set the lights to led. Instead of running resitors. The tazar works too.

Even if you get led aftermarket you still have the crappy drls on the fenders...

Hi Everyone, long time reader first time poster. I’m in the process of ordering my 2019 Rubi (through Craig at Koons) and I’m wanted to get the collective opinion of the forum on two options. wondering if the LED headlights are really worth the extra $900. Won’t some kind of LED aftermarket lights be available forb1/5th the cost?

Also is the hardtop headliner worth it? I had a 97 Sahara back in the day and it didn’t seem that noisy with the hardtop.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-mike
LED option is definitely worth it especially if you do any night driving, had to adjust mine down a little all the on coming traffic was flashing me they are bright! I did also get the headliner option but it was for the added insulation here in Wyoming where the temp can be below -40 F to over 100 F.

it is not like the Fender lights improve your visibility and the incandescent's are plenty bright for other to see you. They will likely last longer than most people own their Jeep. The only real illumination non LED shortfall is the head lights and maybe the reverse lights, non LED blinkers and brake are more than sufficient and can be changed to LED lamps easy and cheap. Lets see what song the LED early adopters are singing after 3 years if they have any fail and they have to buy the whole new assembly at $$$$, verses a just replacement lamp... That's the problem with mode LED lighting it is throw away and NOT serviceable. Considering how vulnerable the Side and tail light are again wait till you are replacing Jeeps proprietary LED lights. Those are extremely high profit for Jeep and it makes for residual business.

I never cared about LED lights until getting them on my new JL. I had no idea what I was missing. While others on the road probably hate how blinding my lights are, I no longer have to use my fogs when driving the country roads in my little town at night.

The different truly is, night and day.

(see what I did there? :cwl:)

Oh, and yes the fender lights are amazing. I can drive with those alone...they are really that bright.

The OEM LEDs in my JLUR are easily as good as the LEDs I have in my BMW 340i and marginally better than the ones we have in our Grand Cherokee. They are absolutely fantastic.
My LEDs are not as good as my 08 M3, but maybe the stock BMW ones are not as good.

Cutoff and angles on the jeep are noticeably worse...they don't aim. But they are crisp and glad I got em.

They should be designed to aim down and not up at oncoming drivers. Mine don't seem like they aim too high so oncoming traffic shouldn't really be bothered. Although when you retrofit lights that's out the window and it can get screwy since the light bulbs dont match where the LEDs focus was.

YES.. And don't think that just getting LED bulbs for a halogen housing on any car is a good idea. People put them into housing that aren't designed for the angular light output an LED puts out, and you end up blinding other people, and/or having dark spots in the beam. The OEM ones make a sharp line across the top between the high and low beams.. Plus you get LED everything else as well.. So yes, worth it..

I would never spend $900 on headlights. That being said, my JL came with them and I love them. When I first got in I thought the hi-beams were on, I couldn't believe how bright they are. Love them.

You won’t spend $900 but you did. Unless the JL was a gift?
