Okie dokie, could have sworn I did that multiple times, but I'll try it again and report back.

Once it clicks into place (You have to push down on it pretty hard), it doesn't move at all on the highway. Like... at all.

Thank you for posting this. This was perfect! Mine does not do that!
It's the last instruction in the manual. If it does not do that, I would take it to the dealer.

Yeah, I know it is and others have said it is but mine never did it and if you watch most of the videos out on Youtube nobody shows that. I have watched at least 4 people put the top down and they never have shown that step. I am going to try one more time but I know I have pushed everything. thanks again for posting that video.

There maybe 2 issues, some people not pushing down, and there maybe an issue that some dont fully lock down. I am certainly being gentle on the top, will give it a good firm push past what I have been.

In any event good video, I think alot of people are likely skipping, it made no sense that they would let it bounce or require 2 sets of straps.

I watched all of the YouTube videos when I brought it home. Put it down just like they said, got on the highway, and freaked the F out. I immediately pulled over, and read the manual on the UConnect screen.

My guess is that, in all of those YouTube videos, the presenters never read the manual. The instructions are mostly clear.

That said, my wife can't get it to lock into place, so it takes a little bit of muscle. A bit nerve-racking at first, but seeing how it's locked in place, this is definitely how it's supposed to work.

Your rear window is very clearly messed up; looks like it's outside the acceptable manufacturing tolerance range. Have you brought it in to the dealership for service (i.e. replacement of that window)? Curious how dealers handle warranty issues on the soft tops...
Absolutely.... Was told and shown that other brand new jeeps on the lot have same issue and basically stated its not something they can fix. Escalating up the chain at the moment. Not giving up.

Hey can you take a picture of the rear window spreader bar in place with the gate brackets and how it's fitted into the rear window seal? On the JK's you could flip the spreader bar over and if so would cause the same issue as what you're pictures show.

Glad to hear you're elevating. That's clearly out of spec--it's hanging off for goodness sake. This "look at this other broken jeep--it's broken, too, therefore all Jeeps are broken" nonsense seems to go on way to often... It's NOT a Jeep thing.

Holy crap. I had no idea. I thought the "click" in the manual just meant the clicking sound form the lock switch. Mind blown. Won't need my Velcro straps any more.

THANK YOU.

You aren't pushing down hard enough. After you lock it, push down on both sides until you can feel it click into place. It will stay there and not move at 80 MPH.
Either you are really lucky or it's strictly at 4dr thing, cuz I just now tried this and it does NOT do any further clicking on my 2dr. I even crawled up on the back bumper and put all my weight on the corner of the top and still nothing. Guess I'll keep my straps.

Page 120 of the owners manual contains the same step for 2 door models.

"4. While pushing downward slightly on the folded soft top, slide the lock lever on the driver and passenger side lift assist mechanisms to the “lock” position.

5. Once the lock is in the “lock” position, push downward on each side of the folded soft top to ensure it is secure. An audible “click” may be heard."

If yours is not working, take it to the dealer, so them this, and ask them to fix it.
