I have an 18 JLUR and the top is separated from the bows. Now the top does not want to go up and down properly. This happened when I first bought the Jeep 2 years ago and I replaced it. Now this one has done it. Has anyone seen this happen and is getting a bestop top a fix for it?

Yes exactly the same thing. It does not want to fold correctly now when putting top down. Mine is not glue, but the actual fabric that connects the bow to the top has seperated (very thin felt like material). 2018 as well. I have not looked at replacement yet, hopefully Bestop has a replacement that does not include door surrounds or other unnecessary parts.

Sailcloth? Buddy of mine had the same issue a couple years ago and glued it back together. Still working today, 2 years later. Of all the threads on this same issue, I have not of heard anyone with a twill top experiencing this problem, myself included. Seems like the sailcloth is much more prone to separate. Bestop is definitely an option, unless it’s the aftermarket/OE exact equivalent of what you’ve already tried twice. Good luck with your decision ?.

I was thinking of glueing mine. I figured at this point I can’t be in any worse situation. Yes mine is the factory sail cloth.

Twill for me. When I get back to the Jeep will take some pictures. There is a piece of cloth that connects bow to twill top no way to glue it, have thought about flexseal tape.

Do you know what type of fabric glue he used. My 2020 top did the same thing. Velcro does not work

I just checked with him and he said he actually used double sided Alien Tape, not glue. Said it was the perfect width and just had to cut to length. I know he’s parked outside most of the time, so I suspect the steady dose of sunshine/heat helps.

Thank you, I will give it a try.

Do you guys have the regular or premium? I have the premium soft top and it’s been flawless. 2018 here as well.
