11k miles here, 0 problems (aside from the yellowing grill).

That’s true. I was referring to the 3.6 which is already proven. The 2.0 and e-Torque is pretty new. Plus the hybrid thats on the way.
Yep, the 2.0L is a completely different can of worms. First ever use of direct injection on Wrangler. First ever use of a turbo-charger on a Wrangler. eTorque is brand new. 48 volt battery with wiring. Multiple underhood changes. It's a game changer for sure.I totally agree about the maintenance. It is very reasonable for routine service like basic oil changes. I don't know about the JL being stone age simple anymore? The JLs have a lot more technology and more is being implemented in the future. The 2.0 e-Torque added some complexity for sure. It's all new so there are no baselines for cost yet. Thankfully there are options like the Lifetime Warranty for anyone who wants it.
Despite this they sold them with some very questionable welds that made it past those sharp eyes. Its a cash cow for FCA and they would be insane to not have a sharp eye on quality and durability.
LOL since when is 6k some milestone in milage.Counterpoint to those threads: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/anyone-with-6k-miles-and-zero-problems.14698/unread
Agree about the test drives . Ask yourself Why you want a Jeep ? There are reasons why a person needs a Jeep , and also why another person would not need a Jeep . Basically Jeep's purpose is 4x4 rough and tough . If you are not into 4x4 rough and tough , with solid axles , then look elsewhere .FCA products are rated at the bottom of every automotive quality, customer satisfaction survey. JD Powers, Consumer Reports, etc. rate FCA brands poorly.
Definitely go test drive a few.
How many had bad welds enough where is was considered a problem? Probably a pittance. Want perfect go jap and put up with a less capable rig. If japan came up with a ft solid axle rig I wouldnt be here. If ford has a bronco with one I will be kicking myself. lolDespite this they sold them with some very questionable welds that made it past those sharp eyes.

To the OP might want to read through here and decide if it worth it to you.

Jeeps are great, if I end up with a JL it'd be my 3rd. That said I'm a realist and not everyone is going to want to put up with the BS for benefits.
Good post. 95% of the people in jeeps now do not need a jeep so dont use it's capability. Most probably get them for the name or to be able to take a top off or doors or to customized it to suite them. So there is that.Agree about the test drives . Ask yourself Why you want a Jeep ? I would talk to actual Jeep owners , ( rather than read the sludge in JD Powers and Consumer Reports ).
You can find actual Jeep owners at the parts department at your local dealer , buying replacement parts , lol .
Not sure if you've discussed it yet, but how are you enjoying your JK so far? Sounds like your JL experience was a nightmare. Total bummer. Hopefully your JK experience is much more pleasant. Which JK trim/color did you get?Maintenance will be similar to any other domestic vehicle,.. Reliability? Some have had no issues and some like me had / have a ton...
Good luck whatever you decide!
West Virginia had the best tank mechanics in the Army , so I have no doubt that your Wrangler will be a 45 year vehicle for you when you are 103 .5000 miles 2 1/2 months no problems. The owner of the Company I work for has an Range Rover and a escalade. Issues with both and there not a year old. I’ve had corvettes and nice suv,s, always missed my wranglers. I am 58 and from now on god willing only a Jeep Wrangler!
