Yup, anybody could do that in a Kia. So long as "anybody" is a pro driver and has a support team of 20+ people to prep the vehicle, spot the driver, shut down the trail for the (probably) hours it took to complete and shoot the video, etc. But sure, anybody could do it in a Kia. :) Not knocking it, at all, quite impressive actually just wondering how long it will be before some Sorrento owner sees that and says to his friend "Hey, let's DO it man!". As the doc in so many of my IBM manuals reads regarding doing things they don't really recommend: "Results may be unpredictable".
Agreed. At the end of the day Wranglers can do this day in and day out. Sure that Kia can survive a single run but will get killed after a few runs and thats why we buy Wranglers.

LOL that's completely awesome! Not extremely surprising, with how capable the unibody Jeeps are and this not being much different, but still very cool!

Makes me think of the people who say "I NEED a Rubicon. Any other model would be completely useless" and it's like, do you? Do you really "need" one? Pretty sure only 1% of Jeepers actually "need" a Rubicon.

You can extend that to pretty much anything, really. How many people "need" an SRT anything, for example? At the end of the day it's their money; lots of people, so long as they can afford it, prefer to be in the camp of knowing that if they want to do it they can - whether they ever actually do it or not (better to have and not need than to need and not have).

The problem with that response is there's a difference between want and need. Your reasoning would fall under the "want" category, and that's fine. If you want a Rubicon, by all means go buy one, that's literally why they're produced.

You can comment on the video, the host is very responsive and it only took 1 pass with 1 sorento
Interesting at 1:19 into the video when cresting the hill there are 3 distinct fresh bumper scratches, at least 2, of which, seemed to have existed before this 1 pass.

Those are from Jeeps that pushed it out of the way.

Probably some psychology at work. If the Sport can be defined as a crummy mall-crawler, that makes dropping 50 grand on a Rubicon seem more logical. Anyway a lot of this Jeep stuff is make believe play - but for grown ups. And a lot more expensive than kids pretending with their Hot Wheels! :)

Ah, I see your point - in that case, how many Wrangler buyers actually "need" a Wrangler? Following your reasoning it's just a want as well.

For that matter, how many Kia Sorento buyers really *need* a Kia Sorento? Most of them would be better off with a Toyota Camry -- better mpg, more comfortable, more reliable, equally roomy as long as you're not trying to haul a dresser home.
