The cab forward is the same frame and the JT has the same cooling system. It's an entirely made up argument. And the EcoDiesel made more torque and way more heat than the 5.7L, not to mention the 392 Wranglers exist.
No, I wanted him to explain. We, well most of us, know these things.

To my understanding the J70 is a replacement for the JL just like the Jl replaced the JK and the TJ replaced the YJ. The Wrangler will live on im 100% sure of that. Worst case the 6 cylinder Turbo will help the underpowered Gladiator and give the Wrangler a boost
Look up the specs on it. It would only be a Wrangler in name only, and a massive error on the part of Jeep to do away with the formula that's worked so well, for so long.

There are no specs on it. If the recon was the wrangler replacement there would be no 2026 JLs. There was talk of an EV wrangler, which built right would destroy the current model on and off road. If they built it like the magneto concepts with solid axles and articulation and simply replaced the ICE with an electric motor it would out crawl any wrangler ever. With ice you need to gear low enough to crawl while still pushing 4k rpms where the v6 makes torque. Not only did the magneto 3.0 have ~4x as much torque it makes it all at 1 rpm. Electric motors are far and away the best powertrain for technical crawling. The problem is all the EVs currently are built with the same shitty IFS/IRS and the off road ones are all on air ride which can make for impressive clearance numbers. The problem is the off road setting just fully inflates the airbags making it ride like a dump truck and have nearly 0 downtravel from that ride height. I hope we get a solid axle EV wrangler. If not I'll settle for a solid axle ICE replacement, preferably with a v8. If they go car like independent suspension, I don't care what the powertrain is I'm not buying one.

40 years ago I had an 83 F-150 with a 300 and AOD that managed about 14 mpg and wouldn’t pass a Yugo. Now I have a 2019 F-150 with at least twice as much hp that gets around 21-22. I think things have changed a little. 😉
Yes they have. However I was mainly talking Wranglers. Have Jeep Wranglers increased mpg the last 40 years?..I still see people on here getting 15 to 17 mpg around town and maybe 20 highway if the dont have 37s or 40s. I got 17 mpg in my 1993 Sahara and 20 hwy, got 17 city and 20 hwy in my 2004 TJ Rubicon, I get 17 to 18 city and 20 hwy in my 2022 Willys 3.6. Theres a pattern there.. Over the past 40 years Jeep Wrangler mpg has not changed much in the big scheme. The caveat is the 2.0 Turbo i hear can get 23 to 24 hwy so thats something.. I get it on the trucks mpg has improved some..

They've nearly doubled in size in that same time. And even still we get 6.0s 0-60 vs a top speed of 50 in the cj3a, 14s in the cj, or 9-10 in the TJ. If you put the 2.0t/8spd in a stock height TJ it would be a rocket and get 30mpg.

So is it consensus on here that Jeeps 10 year Wrangler new model cycle( 10 yr YJ, 10 year TJ, 10 yr JK) will not happen in 2028 or 2029?

Understood. Honestly, the Hurricane 3.0 in the Wrangler would be second best thing. We will see..thanks
Bite your tongue! The “shit storm” would be the worst thing. The heat problems would be awful on this platform.

And people drove 30-40 mph slower on the highway back then. I had a completely stock TJ 6 speed with I believe 3.07 gears. If I kept it under 60 mph I could get 21-22 without any headwind. 60 on the highway today will get you killed.

Our JLU is on 39s and the JT is on 37s. They will happily cruise 85mph all day. Sure they only get 12mpg doing it, but the 4.0L couldn't push a TJ on 37s that speed on flat ground for 5 minutes let alone over a mountain pass for hours.

It's already well into the 2026 model year, and not even a leak, or a camo'd prototype photo? I think the JL will live the longest life of any generation of Jeep yet, that has the Wrangler name on it.

Pure speculation, with a little bit of a wild ass guess thrown in too. And that's pretty solid info on this site!

I will concede that once a cold fusion power source can be fitted to each vehicle, then electric will be unstoppable. But, whoever perfects it will be killed, or paid so much to keep quiet, that we wont see it in our lifetime.

You gotta admit though, Jeep will have a tough time selling the proposed J70, based on the price of a Recon. And to make it so tech heavy is the antithesis of what a Wrangler actually is. That's my opinion anyway. I think a lot of people who own, or who aspire to own a Wrangler, appreciate it's deliberate lack of refinement, cutting edge engineering, or anything else that would over complicate it. After all, who really needs a Wrangler, There are far better vehicles out there for any specific need.

Also, there is something to be said about driving off road being somewhat of a challenge, no matter one's skill level. To take the skill out of it, and make the driver more of a passenger, than a necessary part of the ability of the machine to perform, will kill the appeal of off roading. Again, that's may opinion. I'm sure there are those who would not mind paying $100k for a nearly self driving off road hat trick of a vehicle, that the most effort involved in surmounting an obstacle was signing the paperwork at the dealer.

Adding the 5.7L V8 would definitely boost its towing and hauling capacity
Adding the 392 didn't help, so please explain how adding the 5.7 definitely would.

Fun thread, lots of SWAG (scientific wild ass guessing). And I see that our resident oil connoisseur is back.

Very true, it’s more about the chassis and the braking. If you’re serious about towing something substantial there are better options out there than a JEEP. That’s just reality.

There is 1 Jeep that tows relatively substantial loads well. My gladiator has no issues even at 8200lbs (a bit over ratings). Towed this thing 600 miles without issues including mountain passes and 20+ miles of desert washboard dirt roads. If you need to tow really heavy you need a 2500-3500 and preferably diesel, but then it's not off road worthy for shit. Obviously it's not the brakes as the gladiator is effectively the same there.

He returned after a month's "absence", but has been keeping a relatively low profile. Not even a poll!
