Why Wrangler doesn't get the 5.7L option?

What could be the reason/s? Do you think it will not sell? I don't think so. It will sell if Jeep doesn't turn it to another super expensive 392. For $50,000-$60,000 it will sell like crazy.

Can you imagine while building your Jeep, you just see a $4000 increase in price when you choose 5.7L 🤩

Simple answer - it takes an enormous amount of effort and cost to certify, at the federal level, drivetrain choices offered in vehicles sold in North America. Stellantis has laid off a lot of US based engineering resources and the ones that are left (and the ones outsourced overseas) are trying frantically to get the Recon launched (one year late), the 4xe Gladiator (should be easy, right?) as well as the upcoming replacement for the JL Platform.

Sorry mate,. ain't going to happen.

If people want a V8, they can pony up for the 392!

just like how they make you buy stupid packages even if you just want one thing.

sooo many people would trade up if they offered a 5.7 at a decent price, in each trim level. And those who want the over the top 392 would still get those.

Hi,

As mentioned testing is 1 factor, and even though the emissions requirements have lightened up to a degree, it effects their whole CAFE level.

On paper a 3.6 or 2.0 keeps them better, even though I would bet they (including a 5.7) would get 17-15mpg.

I find it funny my 3.6 has never gotten better than 18.6, normally 12-17)vs my Scat Pack Challenger with a 6.4/392 that gets 22, (normally17-19), yet the Challenger I had to pay gas guzzler tax vs my Jeep that normally barley gets 16mpg.

The “Moab 392” is a (much) cheaper “392.”

And, of course, they could still stuff any of several engines into the remaining 10 special editions, right?

I had a 5.7 in one of the Grand Cherokees we owned. I loved it! Sounded great and the MPG was not that much different than the 3.6L. We bought it to tow our trailer at the time. Pulled the trailer so much better than the 3.6L and actually got better MPG when towing than the 3.6L. Assume it was because it did not have to work as hard. I have seen a few guys swap them into JL's...

I'd buy a 2-door auto 5.7 in a heartbeat
I'd love me a 4 door 5.7 with a manual transmission and the transmission is tuned much better by Stellantis. It double as a weekend toy and helping me with kid duties during the weekdays😍😍😍😍

My C8 Corvette 500 HP V8 with dual clutch 8 spd tranny would routinely get 30+ MPG on long drives cruising at 80+ MPH in 1,000 mile trips from Texas to Arizona...so it is possible...but it did require premium gas, lol.

Why would you want to buy a land rocket in a Jeep package? Something with a lower center of gravity with appropriate gearing and way (way) better aerodynamics would always produce better results.

The primary design criteria for the Wrangler should be for off-road applications. Who in their right mind would use the full power output of the 5.7 off-payment while on-trail?

The over-the-top engines are only for those jockeys with no better exuse than to waste their money on an impractical deployment. Only when (if) the auto manufacturer can justify a profit margin will it become reality.

While, there are a lot of well-off people on the planet, I would assume a very (very) small fraction are smart enough to know a Wrangler is not the most practial vehicle in which to drop such a powerplant.

But hey, maybe I'm all wet behind the ears and every Jeeper wants way more power than necessary, regardless of the cost.

You may certainly try to convince the Jeep executives of manufacturing this pipedream. Truthfully, it is way more practical as an aftermarket mod for those who find this a must have.

Dont they have to go through the same sh!t just to sell a hand full of 392s. Sounds like it would be worth while to sell a lot of 5.7s
