I bought my Wrangler with the idea that I’d be doing a lot of fun driving in all types of environments. Hook line and sinker, I bought into that image. I’m finding out that I drive 99.9% on road and highway mostly. I am using Falken Wildpeaks AT4’s, and while they are good, I have to constantly correct the Jeep and it’s not that compliant on the highway. I was thinking of switching out to some stock 18’s or 20’s and running just an all season stock tire. What is the best setup to make the Jeep the most highway comiant. I realize that I’m talking about a vehicle with independant suspension and offroad bones. Would 18’s or 20’s give me a better ride with less tracking? Thanks.

In before somebody points out your Jeep doesn’t have independent suspension🤪

Air pressure plays an important role in how the Jeep tracks, experiment a bit by reducing tire pressure in 2-3 psi increments

What is your current suspension setup, stock sport? What size tires and what tire pressure are you running?

Wheel diameter has nothing to do with better ride or tracking. Those are all traits related to tire design.

Realistically increasing wheel diameter itself would probably have a negative effect on perceived ride (ability to absorb bumps). It could help if he's canyon carving out west and wants it stiffer in the corners, I guess.

Assuming the same overall tire diameter, yes. Absolutely.

When we bought our Jeep it had the stock highway tires on it that I ran at 35 PSI. We switched to Cooper AT tires and tried them at 35 PSI and it was squirrely AF. I dropped the pressures down to 32-33 cold and it behaves significantly better. Not IFS car smooth but much better than before.

Sorry, I was thinking of

Sorry, I was thinking solid axle, but typed Independant Suspension. I’m running 17x8.5 wheels on 255/80 Falken Wildpeak AT4W’s I have them set at 33psi cold but they warm to 36psi. I drive straight level and long. 111 miles of highway each way. I realize I’m probably stupid for buying this vehicle type for my drive, but it is such a fun one.

Speaking of tire pressure, what is an ideal on-road pressure for my tire? It’s a Load E.

That’s an excellent question.

Full time job (On the road) + 9 kids (1 Toddler + 1 Newborn) = No time. The plan is to eventually do that though.
Oh, I just saw that you're in Florida too. Got it.

18s or 20s won't help, but finding an alignment shop that has dealt with these issues before would.

Are these the Rubicon ones you speak of?
No, the ones that come with the Mopar lift kit. You can purchase them separately for under $100.
