^The wheels look like crap without the ring.
Just get different lighter wheels.
This. What are you thinking this small weight reduction is going to accomplish?

Buys a Wrangler and then worries about the weight? Is that like buying donuts but taking off a few sprinkles to lose weight?^

I just saw the price of the actual Mopar bead lock ring... holy heck. Near $400 for 1 ring? I'm really hoping I'm understanding that wrong and it's for a set of 4...make sure to get shorter ‘bolts’ if you’re going to run them without the Beauty Rings.
(you know those are just for looks and not the rings or bolts you need if you were to actually run Bead Locked, right?)

no that is for each one.I just saw the price of the actual Mopar bead lock ring... holy heck. Near $400 for 1 ring? I'm really hoping I'm understanding that wrong and it's for a set of 4...![]()
heck that might kind of nice with black bolts or button heads.....one nice thing about the protection rings is they can be painted any color and also easily touched up if damaged...I wish the AEV protection rings were like the mopar protection rings in they only had a handful of bolts holding them on instead of 24 which makes it kind of a pain pulling them off to touch them up....I have read that some people worry about how they affect balancing but mine had zero affect...ie tire balanced without and then when I installed they were still perfectly balanced.Sure, go ahead and remove the rings. The wheels will look like this:

that aint but a scuff.....I’d rather trash the rings than the entire wheel. Too late for me

Ford is the same.I just saw the price of the actual Mopar bead lock ring... holy heck. Near $400 for 1 ring? I'm really hoping I'm understanding that wrong and it's for a set of 4...![]()
Not sure if those would work as they’re not cut out for the valve stems like the OEM rings areI wonder if the bolts are spaced the same as AEV? AEV is a bit cheaper..I know someone used to make polyurethane protection rings that would be handy...light, tough and cheaper....

You can definitely easily remove and paint the rings on either the older or newer styles.Has anyone painted the rings on the newer XR wheels? I know that there were a few who painted the older XR rings.
How in depth would be recommended? Just a simple, spray with Rustoleum or Mopar paint code and clear coat or powder coat? You can definitely easily remove and paint the rings on either the older or newer styles.
