2024 Willys vs 2023 Rubicon

Has anyone tried to make the decision between these two recently?

Both used, certified, and around the same price - $38k

My build is going to be one tons with either 40’s or 42’s, so in some ways it makes sense to get a Willy’s or even a sport.

The re-sale value of the Rubicon take offs is appealing though!

I’m aiming for an atlas so I can do front digs

I mean yeah if you can get both Jeeps for essentially the same price then the Rubicon wins out just because you'll be able to recoup more money.

Yeah but if they're both the same price then he has a point with part resale value. You're going to get more money out of the Rubicon parts than you will the Willys parts.

Resale and build with tons are notions that don’t belong in the same thread. I mean, I have HD (not regular) FF 44s. Not sure if those technically qualify as “tons”… but they’re definitely ton-ish.

My resale value has gone down, I’m sure, not up.

I’m happy as hell, notwithstanding.

I'm failing to understand what you're getting at here.

If you start with a Rubicon and you put new axles and transfer case and all of that under it and you sell the Rubicon parts you get more money back for them.

If you're looking at a Willy's and a Rubicon and they're the same price you're going to pay the same amount of money for them the new axles that you buy and the new transfer case that you buy are all going to be the same price too...

You get more money selling Rubicon parts than you do Sport parts which means that if both Jeeps cost the same money you'll actually spend less on the Rubicon because you get more money back from the parts that you took off. Yes the Willys technically has a Dana 44 front axle and all that but there's no front locker and the transfer case is the same as the Sport has so also not as valuable.

Nobody's talking about resale value of the Jeep. OP specifically said resell value of the takeoff parts. Which are obviously going to be higher than they are with any other lower trim.

Resale value is for the parts

Rubi locked D44's + 4:1 transfer vs the Willys D44 front open, rear locked + 2.72:1 transfer case

I would get a little bit more back offloading the Rubi parts

Unless the Rubicon has 9 million miles on it and the Willys has 4k. He didn’t mention that part. Either way, it was an easy decision for me to get the 24 Willys.

4 to 1 T case is about $1000 street price. The two axles are about $4000 to $5000. I think everything else being equal(ish), Rubicon is a better deal for what you are doing.
