This is the type of thing you would like to believe, yes. Real issues? No, not really. Your oil filter housing is going to leak anyway. Your rocker arms are going to wear away the cam lobes anyway. You might save yourself from an inconvenient oil filter or drain plug leak, but that’s about it. The vast majority of professionals are honest and good.
I’m hoping mine lasts till the rings are gone (jk). I’m already about to hit 100k in the next couple of weeks on this ‘21 Rubicon (mostly highway) and with things how they are these days, I’m hoping my maintenance diligence pays off until “things” trend upward again. I will be screwed if this engine shats the bed.

I’ve got the revised 4th gen oil cooler, plugs, belts, & pulleys to do followed by all steering, track bar, and buy once cry once Baller ball joints to install and hopefully make some decent how to videos on.

Fingers crossed, wish me luck. C’mon 300k lol. One guy on a group has hit 200k on their JL 3.6.

Soccer moms regularly hit 300k on their vans without even bothering to pop the hood or vacuum the carpet.

I’ve never seen rings fail on a 3.6 that wasn’t severely overheated.

As for failure rate, I only know I have ~500,000 on LS/LT engines and 0 failures and 34,454 on the V6 Pentastar with 1 catastrophic failure. So, I have an axe and I'm grinding it.
Between myself, my family, and a few long time friends that i've known since high school, the number is over 2M miles on 3rd and 4th gen GM V8s for me. But same here, zero engine issues.

The big difference is that the LS/LT motors have ONE major chronic issue - DoD. LS motors before DoD were lifetime motors. As long as you took proper care of them they would last forever. DoD is the only thing that changed that fact - so if you remove the AFM or DFM system from the newer motors, you still have a lifetime motor. Can't say the same for any version of the Pentastar. They have quite a few more chronic issues - so the likelihood of any given example having a major problem is much higher. They are still very good motors when you look at the big picture...but not remotely at the level of the LS/LT.

My brother mentioned a 3.6L that his friend had the head off of which had no crosshatch in the bore. The bore had hone marks but not the 30-40 degree crosshatch. It was having an oil consumption and head gasket issue. All the other bores had the expected crosshatch. Looked to be a QC issue.
