Headers for the 3.6

...and today I paired it with the aFe resonator-delete midpipe! I added a fair amount of DEI titanium header wrap on the Y-pipe where it's near the transmission pan and driveshaft. Likely unnecessary, but definitely won't hurt. I had a little leftover and did some near the transfer case as well, in addition to where the midpipe bends up to meet the factory muffler (I think that's the 48V eTorque battery location?). Quite a bit more coverage than pictured below, but I only took pictures after the first section done.

The install wasn't too bad, and plenty easy using just basic hand tools. I backed up onto some ramps, but it wasn't necessary if you don't have any. The sound is really nice, my wife is happy! A bit more growl and better tone, but no drone or obnoxious V6 noises.

Can you post a sound clip after you're all done? Also, you planning on staying with the stock muffler for now? Might as well finish it off with the AFE high-tuck mini muffler..

Sure, I'll get a cold start clip tomorrow morning along with a few revs.

We'll likely retain the stock muffler to keep things reasonable on the highway, especially the local tollways where 80-85+ speeds are relatively common. I also worry about drone on long trips.

Hard to say from the clips I've heard, but the AFE, Injen and Savvy mini mufflers really don't sound much louder than stock, maybe just a slight bit throatier, if that. Savvy being the quietest, then Injen, then AFE if my ears are correct. The new Magnaflow version with a Helmholtz resonator might be another option and was designed to cancel out any drone.

Just a thought. Plus you gotta keep you both happy on the highway!

I was looking at that Magnaflow earlier this week, actually! If anything, that's the one that has me tempted.

Not too bad sounding. If you put the Magnaflow Axle back, Id love to hear it. With the axle back alone, I think it got a good bit louder. Bet it will hit too much without the resonator though.
