Anyone have buyer's remorse for ordering the 3.6 instead of the 2.0 Turbo.

I think I responded to this (or a similar thread) before. But now that i have some miles on my Jeep I thought I would update it.

I test drove both. The 2.0 was peppy...my butt dyno felt like the 2.0 was quicker than the 3.6. But I was concerned about a "new" motor with a turbo. I'm not mechanic. But IMO, the turbo was just something else that could go wrong. And without the benefit of a long track record with the 2.0, I didn't want to be first.

Now that I have 60K miles on my 2019 Jeep, I can say that I have "zero ragrets" with the 3.6. I have the 6M transmission too. And I love my set up. I don't think it was possible to pair a 6M with the 2.0 when I got mine in 2019.

So if you get what you like, I bet you'll have "no ragrets" too.

The 2.0 is amazing. The 3.6 by comparison needed to downshift all the time, felt oversall sluggish, and the mileage is worse.

The ONLY thing the 3.6 has on the 2.0 is the noise. The 2.0 sounds like a sewing machine.

No regrets! The 3.6 is a long term proven Engine. They have sold over 10 Million of them, as of current. Granted, the PUG is a updated version, so somewhat different, but so far it is looking good....

my gut feel is that I should get the non turbo port injected motor, I have a 2 door and its plenty quick, almost unnecessarily quick for a box. I was passing a truck today and at the end of my short acceleration I'm at 95 mph, cruising at 75.
0-60 is a flat 7s.

Economy from what I read its really not that big of a difference, I get 18 mpg city exclusive, and I'm not that soft on the gas. Besides I like the cheap costco 87. Speaking of fuel economy, I want to support the local oil and gas industries 🤣 so many green bullshit nowadays.

I wanted the least complex motor so I went 3.6. Picked up a 2019 so I didnt have to deal with etorque. Then added the Livernois tune and it made it a whole new Jeep.

It also allows me to use E85 which is over $1.00/gal cheaper, been using that for about 2 years now. Turbos are easy to modify so i am sure their is some aftermarket for them as well.

I've wondered what the torque of the 2.0 would be like in comparison to the 3.6, as well as the fuel mileage.

The other fun thing that is happening right now is the BS oil filter housing issue on the earlier 3.6's also with an infinite backorder. Mine is currently ok in my 2015 but it's only a matter of time. I hope they updated the design for the newer generation, but I find that to be unlikely. Maybe I'm wrong.
Dorman makes a upgraded model for the oil fill housing that is metal. Put that one on and be done.

For all the talk about engines everything from the 2.0 to the 392 we are talking about seconds in real world abilities. And the 392 will run out of gas in a long race..😂.
I'm still shocked when I for some reason step on it in my 3.6 e and I move faster than I really need to. ✌

No regret. That's because I didn't buy the 3.6 though, I made the correct decision from the get go.

The 3.6 feels and sounds like a sporty piece of like, military hardware or something. It acts the part. Got a nice throaty burble to it, crackles when manually shifted on the power with the 8 speed AT, and is both reliable and predictable. The 2.0 sounds like a blender and is relatively unproven - For a vehicle I'm taking to extreme remote locations, I'll take the motor that's being abused in hundreds of thousands of police cars nationwide and has been made for the last decade or so. Not a single regret almost 2 years in now. It could be a little bit peppier but I find it quick even on 35s with stock 4.10 gearing. Gets a bit sluggish when you load it up with tons of gear for a trip, but what doesn't?
We had those 3.6 Police Cars in our fleet for awhile. Everyone hated them and they were always breaking down.

This thread is beating a dead horse.

The topic has been covered — here and in many other similar threads. And yet, if feels good to read, because regardless of which engine you chose, there are plenty of posts to make you feel even better about it.

I had the Pentastar V-6 in my JKUR 10A for almost 6 years, and it had zero problem. Yes, its power was just 'okay,' but it never let me down.

2 years since I started this thread. Not sure if I am liking the 3.6 L better than I would have over the 2.0 L

But my 3.6 L has worked great, no problems.
You don't know what you don't know, but I'm with you. I'm very happy with my choice and have no regrets at all.
