Morning everyone!

Lydia, LOVE the wheels! And Cristina, looks like we have the same eta for delivery. We will see!

I have ordered a “few” things for my Jeep, going to put together a spreadsheet today to help me remember everything I have coming.

This Friday I sell my Miata to Carmax, so might get a rental for the next week or 2. Or my wife will take me to work and back. Only 15 minutes to work for me, so if I want can do without rental.

Met with the guy who will do my paint protection film. Price is less than I expected so that’s cool :). I had seen his work on instagram, with most of the cars being high end, but was still going to ask for references. His shop was all the reference I needed. He had 4 cars in, all 100k plus type cars, with one notable car. That being a Jaguar F-Type Project 7. There were 200 of these made worldwide, 50 for the US, and as I recall they went for around 150k. If you can find one for sale now they go for over 200k.

I remember in my 08 2 dr sahara driving well past the speedometer limit of 100 in Virginia on my way to tenneseee, if I had to guess I probably was going 110mph for several minutes since nobody was on the road and I could see for miles nobody in the distance. I didn't have any issue of these known jeep steering issues. everything felt normal to me. im hoping I wont have any issues with the JL...not that I plan on going that fast again.
You're quite brave...those Virginia Troopers are no joke. Mandatory court appearances for anything 80 mph or higher (I know from experience :asshat: ).

Wow, that looks amazing! What was the name of the stuff you used again? Can an amateur apply it? My Jeep is a clone of yours, except for the wheels now! lol
Plastidip. I got a box of 6 cans on Amazon for $38. It was my friend’s first time using that product, but it’s just spray cans & definitely not hard! The prep is the most time consuming part. He did an awesome job!
He took the wheels off the Jeep & we cleaned the rims. He then used painters tape around the edge of the rims, both on the outside taping on the tire & also down on the inside of the rim itself.
Jeep Wrangler JL 2 DOOR JL build/order discussions master thread 4A205E8C-8864-414F-8A1D-F1A965A8A0CA
He then stuffed & taped packing paper inside the rim (because it was handy, newspaper would work!) & also taped it around the outside of the tire. This was all done to protect from overspray. (Sorry, I didn’t get a pic of that!)
Tips....
- take off & tackle two or more at once. You have to wait half an hour between coats (he did 3), so doing multiples speeds it up!
- distance is key!!!! Follow directions & stay at least 6 inches away! He got too close & too heavy on one wheel.....we had to wait for it to dry, peel it all off & start again.
- go easy, don’t overdo it. You’ll be doing multiple coats & can always add more. Applying it too heavily may create a runny, pock marked mess.

Is it perfect & the ultimate answer? No. It can & I’m sure will come off in ways or places I don’t want it to. That’s what touch ups are for.
Is it an easy alternative & worth doing? Hell yes!!!!!

Thanks! I’m usually a shades of silver/gray Jeep owner but once I saw this color I broke the same old same ol habit. It’s really an amazing color it’s so deep blue, now just worried about how well it’ll hide the trail scratches (definitely not going to be like silver did)

Jeep Wrangler JL 2 DOOR JL build/order discussions master thread N

Picked up my jeep last night. Did not know it was the last day of the month for them. They were selling Jeeps like crazy and I did not get out of the dealership until after 10 pm.

Checked the tire pressure prior to test driving and the tires were over-inflated. Reduced to 35 PSI. Drove it and it drives very similarly to my '13 JK 2-door, which was good.

Since is was late and at night, did not get a chance to mess around with testing stuff out, However, 1st impression is wow, much better visibility looking out the back, etc. I though for a second they screwed up and put a hard top on it. Great view out the back compared to my JK. The tire and rear center stop light are lower and there are no obstructions out the side windows. Much improved!

Will post pictures later today when the rain stops.

Will spend the 4th installing my pre-purchased mods...

Asked my oldest son if he would plasti-dip the wheels on this one like he did the 1st one. Said it took a long time to do right. (which means more than a hour in his world).

Inventive! :like:
I was staying at my sister’s one weekend & she neglected to get creamer after she used the last of it. I tried egg nog. I do not recommend it. :puke: Lol
Oh, Wow! You must have been desperate. lol
I've used Chocolate Milk before, but would not even consider Egg Nog. Now that I'm trying to cut out sugar and fat, I've actually started taking my Coffee black, even when iced. Mmmm...Robust!

Awesome, thanks for the detailed instructions Lydia! I might just try it. BTW, mine also has a small stone chip on one of the door hinges and I've only had it for 4 days - arrrggghhh! Gotta get that plastic to cover them.

Congrats!! She looks great!! I can't wait to see more pics of her. After you've driven her a while, I'd also like to hear your thoughts on the base stereo and standard top.
