You know what’s ridiculous? The money lost keeping loaded trucks from delivering. In my case, my Jeep has been at destination since the first, not yet unloaded per JG. Maybe the delivery folks are payed by the hour rather than by delivery. How can they afford such waste?

From what I understand they are paid by the hour, and won't bother leaving until the truck load is full. And even then it can sit forever. Alltimesaresoon is a perfect example of this :(

Morning everyone!

Lydia, LOVE the wheels! And Cristina, looks like we have the same eta for delivery. We will see!

I have ordered a “few” things for my Jeep, going to put together a spreadsheet today to help me remember everything I have coming.

This Friday I sell my Miata to Carmax, so might get a rental for the next week or 2. Or my wife will take me to work and back. Only 15 minutes to work for me, so if I want can do without rental.

Met with the guy who will do my paint protection film. Price is less than I expected so that’s cool :). I had seen his work on instagram, with most of the cars being high end, but was still going to ask for references. His shop was all the reference I needed. He had 4 cars in, all 100k plus type cars, with one notable car. That being a Jaguar F-Type Project 7. There were 200 of these made worldwide, 50 for the US, and as I recall they went for around 150k. If you can find one for sale now they go for over 200k.
Auction Direct USA has always given me $500 - $2,000 ,more than Carmax. Done it 3 times now.

Probably saying obvious stuff here, but is the dealer still clueless and not able to reach out to yard? Jeep chat and call numbers not able to escalate? Maybe get JeepCares involved?
gone down those roads..... standard answer from most of them is we are a tracking service. we can monitor status, that is all we are able to do. dealer says once it loads to truck, there is nothing he can do but wait for it to show up.

he then mentions that he can send a driver, but i don't think he's really asked anyone about the logistics to do so, once it's already on a truck.
time for me to just be at peace and assume the character of my userid, alltimesaresoon

Plastidip. I got a box of 6 cans on Amazon for $38. It was my friend’s first time using that product, but it’s just spray cans & definitely not hard! The prep is the most time consuming part. He did an awesome job!
He took the wheels off the Jeep & we cleaned the rims. He then used painters tape around the edge of the rims, both on the outside taping on the tire & also down on the inside of the rim itself.

He then stuffed & taped packing paper inside the rim (because it was handy, newspaper would work!) & also taped it around the outside of the tire. This was all done to protect from overspray. (Sorry, I didn’t get a pic of that!)
Tips....
- take off & tackle two or more at once. You have to wait half an hour between coats (he did 3), so doing multiples speeds it up!
- distance is key!!!! Follow directions & stay at least 6 inches away! He got too close & too heavy on one wheel.....we had to wait for it to dry, peel it all off & start again.
- go easy, don’t overdo it. You’ll be doing multiple coats & can always add more. Applying it too heavily may create a runny, pock marked mess.

Is it perfect & the ultimate answer? No. It can & I’m sure will come off in ways or places I don’t want it to. That’s what touch ups are for.
Is it an easy alternative & worth doing? Hell yes!!!!!
I did the same to my genesis. I did a coat of plastidip then a coat of black wheel paint. then another coat of plastidip then another coat of black wheel paint (to make it a little more durable from rocks and stuff) and then a clear coat. the clear and black wheel paint gave it a little sharper of a look.

Congrats!! She looks great!! I can't wait to see more pics of her. After you've driven her a while, I'd also like to hear your thoughts on the base stereo and standard top.
Sure! No problem.
